A Dvergr is a type of both passive and aggressive creature found primarily in the Mistlands. The Dvergr are an intelligent race that resemble short, blue humanoids with glowing eyes ranging from blue to purple, and long white beards and braids. The Dvergr living in the Ashlands, as well as Haldor, are red haired.

Biography[]

Dvergr are unique creatures in that they are passive to the player unless attacked. They demonstrate both ingenuity and magical abilities which allows them to construct elaborate structures.

At some unknown point in time prior to the player's arrival, the Dvergr sealed away The Queen and scattered the key fragments to unlock the Infested Citadel across the world.

Members[]

Location[]

Most Dvergr are only encountered in the Mistlands, where they can often be found inhabiting structures they have built out of marble, copper, and wood. Many of their structures and encampments are protected by wards, and damaging these structures or their contents (including any Dvergr inside or around them) makes all Dvergr in the immediate vicinity aggressive. In addition to these initial spawns, Dvergr can spawn throughout the biome in groups of 1-2.

Merchants Haldor and Hildir can each be found once per world, in the Black Forest and Meadows respectively. They cannot be angered or damaged, nor can they each move from their set piece. They pay for valuables with coins. Haldor's stock expands as more Forsaken are sacrificed, Hildir's as her chests are retrieved and returned.

Some Dvergrs can be encountered in Ashlands in surviving in the ruins.

Structures and POIs[]

The following is a list of the various Dvergr-built structures and Points of Interest in the Mistlands. Note that some of these structures have variants which have been abandoned and fallen into ruin: these ruined Dvergr structures are devoid of any Dvergr, often contain few (if any) of the uncommon resources otherwise found near Dvergr, and are likely infested with Seekers.

Dvergr Excavation Site Sometimes Outdoor excavation camp

Notes[]

  • The word "dvergr"[1] is the Old Norse word for the mythological dwarf of Norse mythology. The Old Norse plural of "dvergr" is "dvergar".
  • Dvergar are the only current race in Valheim that are both passive and aggressive to the player.
  • Haldor is a "dvergr" or "dwarf", according to his introduction on Iron Gate's blog[2], which is how he refers to himself by one of his many quotes.
    • He is also "short" for a dwarf, explaining his stature. Dwarves of Norse Mythology[3] were not originally described as diminutive.
    • This could also just be a joke or a pun on his part, especially as the other Dvergar seen in Valheim are similarly short.
