Taming[]

For general taming information and strategies see Taming.

Wolves can make for powerful allies both when following a player and when roaming around the built structures. Night time wolves try to de-spawn during the day so the taming of starred wolves must be started during the night.

Tamed wolves will not retaliate against players when they or other wolves are attacked/killed. A wolf attacked by a player will be frightened, running around the nearby area for a few seconds before returning to their normal state. Once the taming has started, they will no longer try flee and will also eat during the day. Taming a wolf takes 30 minutes, if given enough food.

Breeding[]

Wolves can breed provided the wolf is happy and well-fed with Boar meat or other raw meat, and there is another wolf within 3 meters, and no more than 4 wolves within 10 meters. Once met the wolf will accumulate love points with each other until the pregnancy starts. Pregnancy will last a minimum of 1 minute, after which the birth of the baby wolf is random chance.

Once born the baby wolf will take 50 minutes to mature into an adult.

Notes[]

  • A wolf's size is affected by its star ranking. A 2 star wolf is significantly larger than a 0 star wolf.
  • Wolves can be transferred by boat by building a dock with a plank directly over the boat's deck. Wolves don't like to use staircases, so make it as flat as possible. Once the wolf is over the boat, break the planks it is standing on to load the wolf onto it.
  • Wolves will try to fight Serpents.
  • Wolves will take collision damage if placed on top of the boat. Collision can occur from fish, rocks, and other unknown entities. The collision can occur at any time regardless of the boats speed and when it does, it will instantly kill the Wolf. This also occurs with Boars.
  • When roaming around an area where enemies drop meat, wolves can not only sustain their numbers but multiply at an alarming rate. This has the advantage of keeping an area highly safe, though overpopulation can become a problem (running into players/carts, attacking structures, stutter on lower end systems, noise).
  • Tamed wolves that are set to follow a player will stop following the player when they logout. Furthermore, tamed wolves will not resume following the player even if they log back in, as the player must manually set them to follow again.
  • When being raided by a wolves, it is not necessary to be near a structure for a raid to occur unlike most raids.
