The Infested Citadel is the spawn location and boss arena of the 6th boss, The Queen. Unique among the boss arenas, the infested citadel is an instanced area (much like a dungeon) wherein The Queen can be encountered and fought.

Exterior[]

The outer entrance of the citadel is a large, damaged Dvergr-made Black marble structure found in the Mistlands and situated beneath a large rock. Atop the structure is a doorway leading inside the rock face, which is blocked by the Dvergr vault, a large door bearing a runic inscription and a locking mechanism. In order to open the vault door, a Sealbreaker is required.

In the wall of one side of the staircase leading up to the top of the structure is a damaged Wood wall, which can be destroyed or deconstructed to access a passage to the lower floor of the structure, which has several rooms:

  • Two rooms are empty (except for stairs leading to the access point at the main staircase).
  • One room contains several pieces of Dvergr furniture (a chair, table, and shelf) and a Dvergr lantern.
  • Another room contains only a Dvergr table.
  • The middle room has a destroyable Dvergr lantern, a Dvergr stool, and three Dvergr barrels.

While the Dvergr furniture (including the barrels) cannot be used by players at all, they can be destroyed to provide resources:

The structure exterior is also adorned with Blue jute curtains and drapes, which can be destroyed for a source of Blue jute.

Interior[]

The citadel interior is a large room with infested pillars and is criss-crossed by staircases stretching upwards to the top, where the Forsaken altar, the Hive seat, awaits. Sprawled around the lair are several grouped brood eggs, which spawn Seeker Broods and can be broken like the ones found in Infested Mines.

The Queen is alive and roaming inside the citadel; she need not be summoned at the altar unless she has already been defeated, in which case the altar will consume three Seeker soldier trophies to re-summon The Queen. Since The Queen can be anywhere within the citadel when the player first arrives there, the only truly safe zone is the small covered area around the entrance, which cannot be reached by any of her attacks (though her summons may still reach players there).

Trivia[]

  • The door of the Dvergr vault at the entrance to the citadel is inscribed with two glowing Proto-Germanic runes from the Elder Futhark runic alphabet: perþō ('p') and algiz ('z' or, in Old English, 'x').
