A viking graveyard is a point of interest sometimes found in the Meadows.
Description[]
Viking graveyards appear as stones shaped like a Viking longship. Digging around these areas will result in the player discovering a chest, skeletal remains (which give bone fragments upon pickup), and possibly amber or other valuables hidden beneath the surface.
Locating[]
Viking graveyards can be found scattered throughout Meadows biome. Random trees and boulders will spawn within the 'ship' outline, so the Graveyard can be camouflaged somewhat. If you see a few taller, thin rocks jutting from the ground in a line, look around to see if the full outline is there.
A wishbone will lead the player directly to the chest, although the loot isn't likely to be worth it for a player at that stage of the game.
Strategy[]
Due to the significant (for an early-game player) excavation you will be doing, it is a good idea to drop a sheltered workbench nearby so you can repair your tools as you work. If you mark the graveyard on your map and cross it out when you are done, you end up with a map of scattered workbenches (next to each completed graveyard), useful when you are roaming around and need to make a quick repair.
The chest, skeletal remains, and miscellaneous loot will all be found not far from the centerline of the 'ship'. Begin near one end and excavate 3 or 4 hits down, then continue at that depth towards the other end of the ship. When you encounter the chest, excavate as needed so the bottom of the chest is exposed. Any remaining loot within the 'ship' will be at or above that level, so you don't need to go digging much deeper. Finish excavating the center line and then dig out towards the sides.
If you don't need the rock, make a pile in the center and add a chest for partial stacks. Now your map icon also shows you potential rock piles for later use.
