Troll Cave

Troll Caves are dungeons found in Black Forests.

Description[]

They appear as large rock formations with a large entryway, usually decorated with two or three bone piles.

Troll caves may have 0 or 1 Troll inside. Trolls do not respawn inside the cave, since they are a single-use spawn point, nor do trolls in the forest return to a cave. Trolls cannot enter or leave, and nothing other than the player can enter the cave, making an empty troll cave a completely safe refuge.

It is possible to build a campfire inside a troll cave without being choked by smoke. The only other structures allowed are a cooking station, a sitting log, and a ward (the last of which would be useless, since the cave is classified as a dungeon and workbenches cannot be placed there).

Notes[]

• Similar to Burial Chambers, some loot may be spread out across the ground inside the cave, and can be easy to miss.
• A troll cave makes an excellent foundation for an outpost, since no matter how strong the attack, you cannot be reached in any way if you retreat inside the cave, and objects placed in the chests inside the cave are absolutely secure.
• Unlike other loot, the yellow mushrooms in Troll Caves will respawn.
