(Side note, thank you, everyone, for your kind messages regarding why I was MIA here. I'm well and healthy as one can be at this time. However, GR became somewhat a toxic environment for me in the last couple of months and I just needed a break. I will go more into detail in my review of 2020. But I just wanted to say thank you.)
So, this was a buddy-read with the amazing Antonella, thankfully she supported me through this. And thanks to her I managed to leave this book in 2020 because that's exactly where it belongs to.
After the last book was such a great disappointment to me, I had zero expectations for this book. I just wanted to finish this series. (Since once again it was promised that this would be the last book and thankfully that seems to be the truth for once.) I'm going to be brief, I don't want to waste much time here. Plus, I wasted all of my patience on the previous books.
So, here are my feelings, opinions and things that came to my mind while reading. (Again, I repeat my personal opinions and feelings which means this review is subjective to me.)
Oh, so we are flipping the script again? What a surprise! Not. Suddenly Calliope is the poor little victim who is so hurt but she's trying to save everyone. You see, she is such a good girl. So smart, selfless but no one gets it how much she gives! Because no one apparently gets anything in these books. Just Calliope and Ethan, only them. And Ethan is the string master and he knew everything, he pieced everything together. And certainly, no one is being bothered by how Calliope was humiliating him in the past book? What A strong boss.
And suddenly every single character besides those two does not have a single brain cell left to share between all of them. I have to say that whatever I felt about any of the characters in the previous books is gone. They are all bad, stupid and just pathetic. Wyatt, Helen, Nari, Sedric, Darcy, Neil, Evelyn just everyone and yes that includes Mel and Liam.
Let me tell you, by including them this series stopped being about the children. It just meant that there was no story for the children to be strong enough to carry without the parents there. And yes, even Mel and Liam are completely lost to me. Their own series became unreadable to me. Because I'm sorry but Mel was just such a brat that I had a very vivid flashback to Olivia.
And when I'm talking about people not having a single brain cell that includes the villains in this book. Because... what did they do? The biggest ace in their sleeve, the meanest meanie did what? (view spoiler)[Oh, he shot himself, how terrifying! (hide spoiler)]
Which brings me to another thing, what really happened in this book? Not much, a lot of talking. Some people died for the show of it. And nothing. I was bored out of my mind, it was dragging so much! It was just an eye-roll fest, nothing to be excited about, not even angry! I just kept eyeing the progress bar and hoping that it would move faster. And again, with so many flashbacks... or should I say rather rewriting what was said in the previous books?
Also, back to the characters. I feel like if you were to take each of the books in the children series and change the names of each character in each book (Meaning, because I know I'm making zero sense, that Ethan would be Ethan in book 1. Marc in book 2. Joseph in book 3 and so on. Calliope in book 4, Martha in book 5, Jessica in book 6 etc.) they would rather like completely different characters. There is no continuity in them.
Okay, these two spoilers are regarding the deaths in this book. The first one is more general, more just my feeling about how deaths were handled in this book. No name is dropped but by reading the spoiler you may get a slight idea about who lives and who does not. The second spoiler is a real spoiler with a name in it, so, beware. (view spoiler)[I mentioned some people dying and yeah, in my opinion, those were just token kills, like, see this world is so ruthless! People die. Well, you took the easy hits. (hide spoiler)](view spoiler)[ Honestly, Liam being paralyzed from waist down? Is this the best the author can do? Because it really did feel like she was too afraid of killing any of the main four that she just injured him. (hide spoiler)]
So, overall, a book I had no expectations for managed to disappoint me by how bad it was. However, I'm glad that I can leave this series in 2020. It's finally done and I do not have to drop it and then wonder what if the author managed to come up with something decent. (She did not if you are wondering.) A couple of years ago this author was one of my favourites which was the reason why I kept giving her chances. But honestly, it's time to let it go.
Oh, and almost forgot the book was again very poorly edited, a lot of typos/missing words. Which is kind of the norm with these books but since it was dragging so much, I tended to notice more.
Anyway, this is more of a rant just after finishing reading this book (just to finish review before midnight, am I the book Cinderella?), so, I might change/add some things later. Sorry, if I make zero sense, it was done in a rush!...more
Okay... excuse me if I make zero sense... I am somewhat sleep-deprived. (I may edit this review after I catch a quick nap! I kept thinking about what Okay... excuse me if I make zero sense... I am somewhat sleep-deprived. (I may edit this review after I catch a quick nap! I kept thinking about what I wanted to write before I fell asleep and now I feel like I forgot half of it.)
Right away, I want to say that this was an amazing series, one I did not believe I would enjoy as much as I did. And I believe I will re-read it one day. But that said I had some issues with the finale.
Since I read the second book, I was making theories. I wondered what would happen. Months of this torture!
When I saw that this book is only 300 pages, I was terrified; clearly, that is not enough! But the good thing is that the plot really starts right away! No need to wait for the halfway mark. In this sense, this book is the best in the series.
However, with the book being this short, I feel like something is missing. When I turned the last page, I felt sad because it could not be the last page. After all, there were so many things that needed to be resolved. Here is the list of things I believe are sort of missing from the book: (view spoiler)[ Jude's mortality? She kept mentioning Oak being king one day but... I still wish there was something about Jude becoming immortal. I don't know, it not being mentioned at all is sort of sad in a way. She won't grow old as long as she stays in the Elfhame but still... I expected her to gain the faery immortality since she's connected to the crown and land. Talking about Oak and them wanting him being the High King one day. So, why did Jude think it was smart giving Madoc unrestricted approach to Oak? He can hammer a lot of nonsense into him, then Oak will become king and breaks the whole land. Not really smart. Plus I'm not really sure how Jude worded Madoc's exile but could it be possible that Oak could be able to pardon him once he becomes the High King? What about Lady Asha and what she did. She was build up as this untrustworthy character, and then she was left out. In the previous book, they kept hinting something about Jude's mother, some secret or something but it was mentioned basically once in this book and then nothing of it. Taryn's pregnancy. Exactly why was Taryn made pregnant if it has no connection to the story? I at least expected the child to be born in the epilogue. But honestly, there would be no difference if she were pregnant or not. I needed more of Jude and Cardan's relationship; they went from supposed enemies to sleeping together, then the whole thing happened and then the super cheezy ending. And not much was shown in a way how their relationship is going to work. Jude's revenge! She seemed like such a revenge-driven character, and then it was mostly omitted from the story. (hide spoiler)]
Okay, so somehow I jumped right to the end of this book. I have no idea why I did that.
This book needed more Cardan; I felt like there was not enough of him in the whole book.
Then, Locke, you might know that I actually liked him and his devious ways. So, I have to say that (view spoiler)[ killing him off the page seems very, very lazy to me. He deserved more, and I wanted more conflict on the page with him! I was actually surprised how much he was involved in the story. I did not guess his connection to the Ghost nor his involvement in Jude's kidnapping, and it is a shame that we learned about that once he was gone. (hide spoiler)]
I very much enjoyed how action-packed this book was. It was super easy to read, and the first time I stopped for a moment, I was halfway through the book. The pages just flew!
The cover is a masterpiece, and I would never ever guessed how fantastically it represents the story. That's something... I can only clap, very well done. (view spoiler)[ I did not see that coming, at all. I kept thinking: "The earring! It's going to turn into a spider and bite Cardan! Do something, Jude! And then he turned into a serpent! I was shocked, and I could not stop laughing! That was brilliant. (hide spoiler)] I did not expect this moment at all, but it was the only one in the whole book.
And then there is my main grievance with this book. (view spoiler)[ What did I expect from this book? To be torn apart, even to cry. But now... everything seemed to end so cheesily happy that I'm actually disappointed. No one actually suffered, no huge sacrifices. Taryn, after being absolutely useless and backstabbing for two books, is suddenly pardoned. Gets an estate and what? Nothing. I would expect Jude to get some sort of revenge! No matter how useful Taryn pretended to be in this book! And then you can expect that the Ghost will make a move and they will live happily ever after with Taryn. I would have no problem with this "relationship" if it did not appear out of nowhere!
Vivi and Heather get together. Despite everything. Yeah, fantastic.
Madoc may have been punished but in a very unpunished way. I wanted someone to suffer! Also, the way he just stopped fighting seemed a bit out of character for him.
And the epilogue could not be more cheezy and super happy. Let's buy pizza and take Cardan to the mortal lands for a visit who suddenly behaves like someone completely else.
It just did not seem right that everyone ended so happy. No one died. Jude even managed to play nice with Nicasia because both love Cardan. I actually wish the Roach would have died; it would make it more realistic. I expected him to because he got poisoned and then everybody was staying alive, no one got hurt, no one betrayed Jude and those who betrayed her started to come to her side. I expected some sacrifice but nope. (hide spoiler)]
Right now, I feel that this was somewhat anticlimactic. And too easy....more

Let's just leave it at the fact that my reviews for the book 1 and 2 pretty much sum up my problems with this whole series. Because in all honesty, there is not a lot of difference between the 11 books in this series.
⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇ Might be a bit spoilerish!🛑❌😑
First, this cover is absolutely awful! The worst in the whole series.
Second, I was interested in this one, however, by now I should have known better. Especially since Timofei went on and promised Devyn that he would behave nicer to her than her father was to his mother. So, he promised to be a good husband, no violence or cheating on his part. Let's say that he went back on the first part pretty fast.
Third, again with the pregnancy thing. The contract states that Devyn has to be pregnant in a year otherwise the marriage is void. (And then Timofei amends it to three months! 😲) And Devyn does not know! She asked Timofei if she should get some kind of contraceptive and he's like "No, you need to get pregnant". Like WTF!!🤯🤯🤯🤯 That's so DISGUSTING.
Fourth, when the contract is no longer is a problem and they agree that they do not want kids now, there is an epilogue that shows that in 18 months she will be pregnant.
What's the fascination with pregnancy in this series?...more
Brilliant. So my review that took me really long to write somehow got deleted... :( Hate that. (Actually, it almost got lost for the second time, thanBrilliant. So my review that took me really long to write somehow got deleted... :( Hate that. (Actually, it almost got lost for the second time, thankfully I was smarter this time and copied it.)
So, this is it? The end? It seems almost...sad. But definitely strange. Like I should hold a wake. Or maybe I already did.
"Everybody’s here. You’re here."
"You were there."
I finally got to the point that I could finish this series. And this remains my favourite comics series and the best thing Neil Gaiman ever created.
Unfortunately, I had a bit of a hard time remembering what happened at the end of the previous part but thankfully I managed to remember enough to enjoy this one.
"The king is dead, that's what they say. The king is dead. Long live the king.”
I was a bit disappointed by the ending because I expected something truly amazing that would blow me away but the rhythm of this one was slightly off. However, I still really enjoyed it. At first, I thought that it should have ended right after the wake, the other stories seemed wrong. But then I realised it just really makes sense.
“Nobody died. How can you kill an idea? How can you kill the personification of an action?" "Then what died? who are you mourning?" "A point of view.”
I hope that one day I will be able to re-read this series and it will be like remembering a long time forgotten dream.
“That which is dreamed can never be lost, can never be undreamed.” ...more
Well, I don't know what to say. I wasn't really a fan of the previous book, especially because I never found a way how to like Hartley. But the HUGE cWell, I don't know what to say. I wasn't really a fan of the previous book, especially because I never found a way how to like Hartley. But the HUGE cliffhanger forced me to read this book asap. Well, after finishing my review, I feel like I'm even generous with my rating. Funny thing that I always realize how angry a book made me only when I write the review.
Let's start from the beginning. The whole "(view spoiler)[ amnesia thing (hide spoiler)]" it only seemed to me like the author didn't know what to do with the plot and thought that this would be an amazing plot or solution. Well, no, sorry, it was not.
I'm not a doctor but (view spoiler)[, so she remembers nothing, and they just send her to school? Like nothing happened, you would expect some sort of counseling and "transition," tests what she remembers and what not. I get that her parents are assholes, but I would think that this would alert social services or someone that a girl who remembers nothing is just sent to school. Same with Sebastian, he woke from god knows how long coma a guy that is going to trial for murder just gets him out of the hospital and then he is in school like a couple of days later. (hide spoiler)] Really don't get that and I would be really surprised if that were how that worked in the US. (view spoiler)[Talking about a guy who committed a murder. It was said that he was also being charged with an attempt to kill Ella as well. - Btw, when did he try to kill her? Because what happened at the end of the Twisted Palace did not seem like attempted murder to me. But still, she is a major witness in the case. He should not be allowed anywhere near her! But he can just come to the house where she lives? No restrictions on that? Seriously? (hide spoiler)] And since I'm already talking about the lack of action from CPS or anyone for that matter, let's add other issues. (view spoiler)[ So, at the end Hartley's dad is dead, her mother just packs her backs and goes away as well as her older sister. And no social services, CPS or anyone is involved when she leaves Dylan, her 13-year-old daughter with the family of the guy her 17-year-old daughter is dating? And do not tell me that it's the money. The case was under media scrutiny; they would definitely report on that. (hide spoiler)]
Okay, this feels like this review is going to be full of spoilers.
(view spoiler)[ I won't really comment on Callum going to Dubai to close a deal when his son is in a comma. If Sebastian was in a comma like for a month or so then okay but it was what? Days? Week? And he was off and left Easton in charge of everyone. As if he wasn't drinking all the time and Callum was aware of that. You would guess he would at least force Gideon or Reed to come back. (hide spoiler)]
As for Easton. In the last book, I was really angry about his behavior towards Ella. And to be honest several times in this book it was even worse than in the previous one. As well as his behavior altogether. (view spoiler)[He made no sense at all. He was just making things worse on purpose and then trying to excuse himself. (hide spoiler)]
Okay, so little miss Hartley. Still, don't like her. And have nothing much to say about her. Only that her actions were sometimes really stupid and forced her to do things were complicated. Maybe she should keep her mouth shut, just maybe sometimes.
The first half of the book is really slow and almost pointless.
We got some mandatory Felicity drama. Again sort of doing the same to get rid of the mean girl as Ella did. (view spoiler)[ Really don't get the Kyle thing. So Felicity set it up, and her parents just went with it? I understand that Kyle did it for money but don't understand why he punched her. Makes no sense at all. (hide spoiler)]
Then there is Steve who just won't go away. And I already voiced some of my issues about him in some of the previous spoilers. But let's add another. (view spoiler)[ So he has an ankle bracelet to monitor where he goes. And put that together with the fact that he should not be allowed anywhere near Ella he should be in jail for being at Royal's place. But okay, let'S pretend he could just order Ella in his car and all would be fine. Then to his suicide, come on, that was only a stupid way how to finish the book and close the Steve's issue without writing about the trial. (hide spoiler)]
(view spoiler)[Also, Steve just goes crazy, shooting anything and everything. It also gets revealed that Easton is apparently his son. Which was suggested in the previous book by Hartley's father. I didn't believe it because a) didn't really think the author would go for the Ella and Easton kiss and b)in the first three books it was hinted that the twins were more like Steve so it would make more sense if it were them than Easton. (hide spoiler)]
Also about Hartley's father who was just behaving really stupidly and I'm sort of surprised he managed to go on with it as long as he did. (view spoiler)[He also said that he pushed Hartley at the hospital that caused her amnesia. (really convenient) But I re-read her fall, and I do not see how he could push her without anyone seeing it. They were looking at her! (hide spoiler)]
Hopefully my last issue with the book. The twins and Lauren and anything altogether. Since the author revealed that the Royals were over, no more books, no-extras no nothing I'm really confused and maybe even angry because we always got just hints on them. A built up of their story to get people interested, and I really wanted to know more about them. And the author is just like: No book for them. Okay, then at least please explain the things in this book! (view spoiler)[ The author just threw there that Lauren broke up with them which made me really angry. It was same as with Steve. Just deleting the character so I don't have to bother with an explanation. And I thought I was angry after the previous book when Lauren went from the sweet and nice girl to a complete opposite manipulative monster. But this got me angry even more. (hide spoiler)]
Also (view spoiler)[Sebastian woke up after being super angry and rude which is understandable but we won't ever know if he gets better or what. (hide spoiler)]
Wow, after letting all of my anger out I sort of wonder if there is really something I've liked about the book. Also, as some people already pointed out there were some really unnecessary typos in the book....more
On one side this book's killing me! The ending always breaks my heart. It starts to break a long time beforeRe-read (12/2018): This is killing me. 🤯🌋💣
On one side this book's killing me! The ending always breaks my heart. It starts to break a long time before the end because I know what's coming. (view spoiler)[I'm not counting the fact that Mel faked her death. I hate the whole "she's dead but surprises! she's not. (hide spoiler)]
On one side, I love how cruel they still are. But on the other side, I think that the parent side of them changed them a bit. And I dislike Mel being a Governor because in a way it feels like she's going back on herself. It is not something that they would do, too many short strings that lead to them. They would just get someone to do the job for them.
The major problem I have with this book (or maybe whole series but it also continues in the Children of Vice series) is the really bad editing. And I do not even mean the typos (and there are typos don't get me wrong). I meant the fact that the consistency is non-existent in here. Previously I mentioned problems like Mel wearing a dress, suddenly trousers and then, magic, dress again. However, here and then in Children of Vice it gets even worse. When the previous book ended with the epilogue, it took time pretty much at the same time as A Bloody Kingdom. In the epilogue of the American Savages, we see Monte and Fedel waiting for Mel and Liam. But in here Melody mentions that Monte died a long time ago. And that's one of the things I really hate! And with every re-read of this series, I keep seeing more and more of these little misshaps. So, I think that there will be no re-read of this in a long time.
By the way, can I say that I do not like Coraline?
ORIGINAL: I am really torn on this one.
When the third book ended my first thought was that I cannot imagine Liam and Melody being old. With teenage kids, adult kids and then grandchildren. It wasn't them.
The thing I liked the most is that they're evil until the end. Still on top, still strong and playing the world.
At first, I sort of felt cheated. (view spoiler)[ Just saying that Monte and Jinx died that seemed cheap. They deserved much more. And Mel as a governor? I wasn't sure if that was really her. Like with the president she would get a puppet. (hide spoiler)]
I was torn on them being parents. Not sure if I like them being parents. Cause I loved them so much in the first book. Not really sure being parents is what I want from them. :D On one side they were amazing. They have so much love for their kids. But they also fear to lose them. (view spoiler)[ I understand why they started to train them to be strong and to survive. But that doesn't mean it did not break my heart a bit. Not for the kids. But for the pain, Liam and Mel had to be feeling. (hide spoiler)]
...there is a lot of blood in front of those hospital doors.
I wish there was more of a story for Fedel. He would deserve one. (view spoiler)[ Painfully loyal till the bitter end. He did not deserve to die this away! (hide spoiler)]
At first, since the chapter 24, I expected something to shatter their world. I could not stop crying. (view spoiler)[I was angry at her faking her death. This Melody in hiding? That wasn't her! (hide spoiler)]
And now, thinking about it I think it's brilliant. Sort of. I wanted her or both of them to die. In some epic was! Go up in flames and never to be forgotten! To be on top of the world. (view spoiler)[I still don't see them as two "older" people just having fun. (hide spoiler)]
I also wonder if at the end Liam also (view spoiler)[faked his death or simply passed the job and left. (hide spoiler)]
EDIT: I think this book of all four has the strongest ending. Minus like the last chapter. But since the chapter 24, I think it was one of the highest moments of the series, definitely emotionally highest because seriously, every time I get to chapter 24 until the last chapter (minus epilogue) I always cannot stop crying even though I already know how it ends!...more

Okay, so, since I re-read the second book, I thought it might be fun to continue with this one. I still think that the second book was the best in the series. However, I have to say that I enjoyed the mayhem Feyre caused at the beginning of the series was just so much fun to watch. Plus the meeting between the High Lords was also quite entertaining.
I don't have much to say other than that I need more of Helion and probably controversial opinion, but I need more on Eris.
Original: Well, this was a weekend full of A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I can say that I have never read that many pages that fast.
Yeah, I surrender, I liked this whole series.
I'll again have several points:
-Can people, please, stop vomiting in this series?! Seriously, I could not count how many someone vomited or said that something made them vomit or that they wanted to vomit. I get it; it's hard, but... not a fan.
-Where I usually say that the second book in a trilogy is the weakest, I don't think this is a case of this series where I believe the second book is the strongest.
-Because this has 700 pages and where it was fun to read, I think 100 pages should have been cut because sometimes it was just repetition and prolonging it. I don't really think we need to be reminded that Feyre and Rhys are mates. We. Get. It.
-I loved Rhys in the first book, so I'm a bit disappointed. I wanted him to be more wicked!
-(view spoiler)[You are going to hate me a bit but... the ending was a bit of just too much happy, sloppy unicorns riding on rainbows. (hide spoiler)] Just a bit.
- The SURIEL deserved BETTER!
- IANTHE deserved WORSE!
- Can I say that I'm a bit in love with Helion? I would love to see more of him. And actually, of the other lords, I had so much fun reading about their meeting. This kind of politics I like.
- One of my problems were Feyre's sisters. Where I finally started to like them in the last book, I really disliked them in this one. Especially Nesta, can someone stuff her in a Cauldron? I get it, she had a traumatic experience and everything, but her behaviour was not okay even before all that. So a hard no for me.
- (view spoiler)[I really disliked the revelation about Mor and Azriel. She let him hope for 500 years? Not okay. Which leads me to a sudden surge of LGBT characters. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with having those characters there but them suddenly surging in the third book makes me wonder. First two books nothing and now Nephelle, Helion, Thesan and then Mor. It just seemed strange that it was not even hinted anywhere in the rest of the series... Since I did not follow SJM before, did she got some backlash for not enough diversity in her books? (hide spoiler)]
-Yeah, I still dislike Tamlin, nothing has changed from the first book. And honestly, I had so much fun with Feyre's little revenge at the beginning. He deserved all of it. (view spoiler)[Because he's seriously abusing partner. And that's never alright. (hide spoiler)]
-I liked that SJM included all of that. Showing that it's normal that you may fall in love with someone who seems to be a prince charming only to turn into an abuser.
-Where I liked Lucien so much in the first book and disliked him in the second, I don't have much of an opinion on him in this one. Somewhere in the middle.
-Don't know what to say about Elain. Only that (view spoiler)[I don't get her being Lucien's mate. Azriel would make so much more sense. (hide spoiler)]
-Is it wrong that I would like to see more of Eris? I sort of like that guy. Yeah, he's a cruel, power-hungry brute but... there is a certain appeal to him.
-My favourite moment? (view spoiler)[The WTF moment where I had no idea if Tamlin is on the good side or Jurian is. I was speechless. But, I wish that one of them was the bad guy. Sort of disappointed that all of them turned out to be low-key supporting the good side. Let someone be a traitor. (hide spoiler)]
- What happened on page 666 is sort of poetic that it happened on that page. Wonder if it was done on purpose.
- I liked Amren and Varian.
Tarquin cringed. “We’ll alternate who has to deal with them on holidays.”
-I would like it if the Ouroboros was more. That it had a bigger role in the story.
- I know that the series is getting three more books, but I do not know what I think about that. When a series is extended, I'm usually left disappointed. So, I'm not exactly certain if I want to read it but... I guess I'll have to wait and see. But because I thought that this is just a trilogy, I expected it to be resolved in this book. This... I'm not entirely okay with it. But as I said, I have to wait and see....more

I liked all of Royal's sons. Even Ella was pretty good. I just again had a feeling that after they got "together" the hero changed into a golden boy, not the bad boy he was presented to be.
I am really looking forward to where this story is going.

Riordan created a fantastic world which I do not want to leave. Ever. And he also created characters I wish were my friends! I would love to get more scenes between the characters without any fight and worries. Just hanging out and having fun.
For future reference - Always have a different book to read.

We've got several plot twist/actions that were introduced during the "series": Taylor leaking the video, Lively, PRISM, (view spoiler)[ Her daddy killing some poor girl who said No (hide spoiler)]. Yet, none of this was ever solved. Just background noise....more

The plot with Lively might be interesting. Unfortunately, the author rushed the whole thing to the point where it would be way better just to skip the "plot" and make it just about sex....more

I was not really a fan of the other series, but this was just sitting in my shelf, so I just picked it up... I don't know if it's caused by a recent disastrous book (still trying to decide if it was the worst book I've ever read) but I actually liked this. I think this is somewhere like 3,5*. But I need to say that as far as fae books go, I prefer the Dark Swan series from Richelle Mead for several reasons.
I'm going have only a couple things to say about this novel: - I didn't like Feyre from the beginning. Because she did seriously dumb things. How many times does she have to be told to stay inside that it's dangerous? I got more problems with her but as the novel progressed I was actually okay with her. - I don't like Tamlin! At all. What's the appeal? Hope she leaves him. - I love Lucien. He's such a sweetheart! I actually sort of hoped for Lucien/Feyre more than Tamlin/Feyre. I want more of him in the next books because as the series progressed he always had to leave the pages to let the Tamlin/Feyre happen. I actually just want to see Lucien and Feyre be friends! Lucien needs friends! And I want him to meet with his mother again! - Can I say that I adore Rhysand? I love his cruel side; I really hope he won't lose it in the next books. I have high hopes for his deal with Feyre. - The riddle at the end was ridiculously easy. Same as the loophole Amarantha had prepared. I wonder if she ordered everyone not to talk about the loophole cause there is no chance that Rhysand or Lucien did not see it. - As for Feyre's family. Nesta was shown as the bad guy at the beginning, but I actually liked her more than Elain who was really useless. As for their father? I sort of agree with Nesta. I wonder if they'll appear in the rest of the series. I actually think that Nesta and Lucien could have some hilarious conversations. - I have some problems with some things in the novel (the body painting...), but I don't think there is a point in discussing that since I believe we will have more insight on that in the next book.
Overall I liked it. Not my all time favourite but I can say I'm pleasantly surprised. (Blame the book that lowered the bar for me!)...more

So, that's a perfect time for a re-read of I book that I've loved, right?
And I still do! There is not much for me to say other than that I had an absolute blast reading this. I was grinning, laughing, I was enjoying what I was reading.
“Oh, God. I’m trapped in the fucking Chronicles of Narnia." "I’m sure that would be an amusing reference, if I understood it.”
This is one of the few books that has lines on the spine from how often I held it open. Especially that one which goes to pages 102 and 103 is really worrying me!
Anyway, I totally loved all the little "foreshadowing" for the rest of the series which I did not see before. Love it!
“You used your power to toss one rock at me?" he exclaimed, an almost comic note of incredulity in his voice. "On the contrary," I heard Dorian say pleasantly. "I didn't use magic for that. I just threw it.”
But what I did not like was Kiyo and during this whole book, I was dying a bit inside because of the idea that he will be in the rest of the series.
Original: One of my favourite books. And definitely my favourite series by Richelle Mead. However, I wish there was no Kiyo - he's annoying and taking too much space. Dorian should be there more, like all the time!...more

I have to say that my opinion oEDIT (June 2020): I just want a book focusing on Dorian and Eugenie from start to finish. Am I really asking that much?
I have to say that my opinion or feelings on this book did not change.
I still hate Kiyo (from the first moment in book one). I still want more of Dorian. I still want to shake Eugenie to finally wake up! I mean no matter what Dorian does, she makes it the biggest betrayal ever and when Kiyo (view spoiler)[tries to kill her and her kids (hide spoiler)] she's totally shocked and hurt. Where's the rage? She's just surprised Pikachu. I mean Kiyo was always a bad boyfriend, and for some reason, Eugenie always tried to find some stupid excuses. In the name of "being human".
"I see. It's your turn again."
This sentence still breaks my heart.
(view spoiler)[I have to say that the whole "I already broke up with you in my head, so, I did not cheat" is some serious mental gymnastics. I mean, how hard one would have to try to come up with nonsense like that? That's not how breakups work. (hide spoiler)]
EDIT (11/4/2017): Grr! No way! Kill Kiyo! Kill him! I'll start a petition: Kill Kiyo!
I love Richelle Mead. I love her stories. Unfortunately, Eugenie is killing me!
I would love to give 5* to this book. But I cannot because of her.
I love Dorian more and more with every book. She does not deserve him. And why is she still surprise that he has his own agenda? (view spoiler)[ Come on! Is the crown just a trinket? How could she believe it? I did not think that she was really stupid. Other than liking Kiyo which is really stupid. (hide spoiler)]
"I see. It's your turn again." (view spoiler)[ Yes! She goes from Dorian to Kiyo again and again! She knows what an idiot Kiyo is! And then she is surprised that he's trying to kill her! How come that she did not see it coming? Everyone else did... (hide spoiler)]
And at the end, Dorian saves the day again....more

I mean, shame on me. Anyway, I had to go back to re-read chapter 55 and since I was already reading that I sort of had to read the whole book. Still very much fun and I quite enjoyed it, and I stand with my previous opinion when I marked this book as the favourite in the series.
Original Ehm, I'm a bit worried that I read this in a day.
Yeah, it's better than the first book for numerous reasons. I rated the first one 3,5 stars (GOODREADS GIVE US HALF-STARS RATING!). This would be somewhere between 4 and 4,5 stars.
So a couple of things to say. First, Dark Swan is still my favourite fae series.
- "Bloomsbury Children's Books" - This is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. :D Same as that you can find these books in the children's section at my local library. And I just persuaded them that Anita Blake books should not be in the children's section. :D
-I disliked Tamlin in the first one, but you know what? I enjoyed disliking him in this one!
-I really liked Lucien in the first one, and he disappointed me in this one. Hopefully, in the next one, he will have a chance to redeem himself.
-I am even starting to like Feyre more. Which of course has very much to do with her surrounding, other characters and the fact that this book is more action-packed.
-If you know me, you know that I like bad guys. I like if a character is written in such a way that they as vicious and pretty sweet villains. So, yeah, I loved Rhys from the first one. And now I enjoyed that he was more present in the book. (view spoiler)[I see what the author did there! A bit of Shatter me? Adam = Tamlin; Warner = Rhys? I just hope that Rhys won't lose the slightly mean side of him! Please! Let him be a bit evil! (hide spoiler)]
-The new characters? Love, love. Morrigan is absolutely fabulous. I would kill for friends like Cassian and Azriel. And let just say that I would not like to stand in Amren's way.
-I was a bit annoyed by Elain after the first book but now? (view spoiler)[Being Lucien's mate? That's priceless. (hide spoiler)] But honestly, I still dislike the girl. I did not like Nesta when the series started, but at the end of the first book, I sort of started to get to her and now? I wanted her to punch Tamlin in his stupid face!
-I liked that the horrors of the first book were not forgotten. And (view spoiler)[Tamlin is absolutely deranged. Someone who was stuck under a mountain in a cell would obviously be thrilled at the idea of being locked in a house. Brilliant thinking. I knew that I did not like him! He was okay with Feyre saving them all, going out when it was more dangerous than now, but suddenly he wants a cute, little wifey. Bleh! (hide spoiler)]
-I definitely liked that there was more action, Feyre getting more on her feet and standing up for herself. I like where this is going, and the end was... wow. Did not see that coming! (view spoiler)[Talk about taking a break-up badly! (hide spoiler)]
-Btw, I lost count how many times someone vomited or mentioned vomiting! It's like... What is wrong with SJM? :D :D
-And I'm telling you, my hand is itching towards the next book.
-Well done, SJM, I was not sure about you. I'm not a fan of Throne series but yeah... This one works for me....more
