Yes,So, I've seen the movie several times when it was on TV, and I have to say that I even watched a scene or two a couple of dozen times on Youtube. Yes, the action and visuals are fantastic. (Okay, except the one where the guy tears his own tooth, yuck!) But after reading the comments where people were angry at the movie, saying that it does not hold a candle to the book, I knew I had to read it. And yes, I do agree that the only things the movie took from the book were the zombies and Israel building a wall. Oh, and the title.
Right away, I was very surprised by the format of this book; it was not all what I was expecting. And the more I think about it; I believe it would be better if I picked up an audiobook instead of a book. Yeah, shocking, I never thought I would say such a thing. Every interview is done with a different person, so, soon I stopped paying attention to their names, so when they again appeared later in the book I had a hard time connecting them with their previous chapters.
Also, like one third into the book, I got stuck after several boring chapters where I seriously considered DNFing this book, but then I pushed through, and yes, it was worth it.
I loved that we got to see how so many different parts of the world battled with the zombies. The different approaches, what do to the countries, did they go all savage? Did they bomb their own people? Did they just lose all control? That was fantastic to watch.
And surprisingly, this book made me even laugh! I just loved the boy who almost missed the zombies because he was focused on his computer. I did not expect that.
That's the one thing you can always depend on; as we're fighting on war, we're always preparing for the next one.
I did not very much grasp how they were suddenly able to fight the zombies when they previously failed with much better equipment but alright. But I have to say that zombie cleaning is funny to imagine. Especially of those underwater, I bet it will be fun if a zombie managed to get stuck in the Mariana Trench.
However, the scene I was sort of hoped for was post-war when some scientists have a zombie in a lab for studying, that would be fantastic! I honestly would love to see some experiments on these creatures. The book stated that it seemed that the state of the zombies deteriorated, but I wonder what would happen if they maybe starved for years. So many possibilities!
What sort of surprised me is that I expected that when the humans would go so close to extinction that the environment would get better, no factories running, no one is dumping anything in the water etc. but it was otherwise and it sort of made sense! There had to be so many fires; it's terrifying to imagine. But I wonder about the impact of all those nukes used!
And that's another thing I wish was different, the last part was sort of jumping from character to character, for short conclusions but I would love to see more about the brand new world. Honestly, I think I would be able to read a book dedicated to each country! Especially Russia, Iceland and Israel would be interesting. Also, I wish we really knew what happened in North Korea.
I also wonder about Patient Zero, because when the doctor in China informed his friend, they knew what was going on, the military seemed ready for what was happening there. That does not seem like the first case

I love Stylo Fantome. I loved the Kane series, I was really surprised by the Mercenaries, and then The Bad Ones found its way among my all-time favourite books. But then it was a bit like hitting rock bottom with the Twin Estate which I did not even finish.
But I was excited about Church, it sounded great. Something a bit like The Bad Ones, I expected it to be great. And then... nothing happened. Where The Bad Ones went right, this went wrong.
To be honest, I still feel Church was supposed to be something like The Bad Ones, and I believe it may have worked. But the problem was that the characters were not fit for this. Where Dulcie was the big bad wolf, Emma was just... broken beyond repair and even her brilliant moments were so low I sort of wished it would just end.
You see when the book started I hated Margo, how anyone could be such a horrible mother but as the book progressed I found out that I was more indifferent towards her. Why? Because Emma was so... I don't have a word for it. I just don't like her character. I don't know why. I want to call her stupid. But really, she is not stupid. I want to call her weak. But really, she is not. I want to call her many things, but she is none of it. And there is the problem. She is insignificant. She has no real personality. She has nothing I could catch on and maybe like her for it or even despise her. I like characters I can hate. But there is nothing. I feel nothing for the characters which is a huge problem for me.
There are many things I could talk about that make no sense and were brushed off when they sure should have caused a huge problem. But I won't go there.
I liked Church or the promise of Church, but he did not live up to it. The same could be said about the whole book.
Though, I will read the second book just because the ending made a bit curious and I want to know what will happen next. Maybe this book is only suffering the fate of second books in trilogies. It is just filling, the set up for the real story.
I know that the author wanted to show the ugly truth of what life sometimes is but it did not work for me at all.

And I still think that the second part of this novella is somehow wrong. Also, based on the latest book by Stylo Fantome Checking In which show (finally) what happened in Russia, I have some problems with some things happening here. (view spoiler)[If Tate really lost their baby and they both (mainly Jameson) were shook by it, and this is supposed to take place after that, I just don't really think that he would have reacted that way if she told him she was pregnant. I can see it happening before the miscarriage but not after it. (hide spoiler)] Seems very inconsistent to me.
Well, I started to read the barbecue story when the first part was published here on Goodreads. And when I found out about the Reception I was a bit surprised that the Barbecue story was included. However, I really liked that one. Even though, I expected a bit different story, probably seeing Tate and Jameson as parents or parents to be.
As for the second part. I think it hugely goes against everything that was said in the previous series. (view spoiler)[I don't even have a problem with Tate sleeping with Sanders but mostly Sanders saying that he's in love with her or even that he loves her. Come on! It was always said that they are like siblings. Definitely no love! (hide spoiler)] I think that could be done a bit better....more

And it was so interesting to readSo, I kept seeing this book on my feeds again and again. But it seems like you either love the book, or you hate it. And it was so interesting to read the reviews, and sometimes it seemed like the people read completely different books. So, naturally, I got interested and wondered where on the spectrum I'd be.
And funnily, I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't hate the book, but I don't either love it.
A lot of people seem to be angry about the way Aria was treated. I sort of thought that it was something to be expected based on the description of the book. On the other hand, Aria sometimes annoyed me. She knew for three years that it was going to happen and she still acted as if that was new to her.
But the worst character is her sister Gianna who really got on my nerves. Even more than their father who could have won the prize for the worst Father of the decade.
And I sort of hoped that there would be more of the mafia plot. There are definitely way better Mafia books.
So altogether, I cannot say that I hated the book or that I loved it. I'm somewhere in the middle....more

Plus I also found it was too easy to guess who the bad guys really were. These two things were the main drawbacks to the book for me.
But this book has some of the best characters ever. Mr Croup and Mr Vandemar are just the best partners in crime ever! I just need a book on the two of them. And Marquis de Carabas was another great character. Fantastic, fantastic. However, I did not care much for Door or Richard. Not one single bit and since they were the main characters that seem a bit problematic, right?
“I already killed you once today, what does it take to teach some people?”
“Sir. Might I with due respect remind you that Mister Vandemar and myself burned down the City of Troy? We brought the Black Plague to Flanders. We have assassinated a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods. Our last commission before this was the torturing to death of an entire monastery in sixteenth-century Tuscany. We are utterly professional.”
But I pushed myself through the book, and thankfully, mostly because of the great side characters, I managed to enjoy the story. ...more

I liked all of Royal's sons. Even Ella was pretty good. I just again had a feeling that after they got "together" the hero changed into a golden boy, not the bad boy he was presented to be.

I loved the idea. The beginning was awesome. Then it started to be soooo boring and so repetitive. I slowly started to hate every single character. Then I stopped reading for some time. I almost thought that I would DNF it but then decided against it.
And the ending? Was freaking amazing! Did not see that coming at all. Which made me happy that I finished the book. However, overall I have to say that I would still call this book a slight disappointment.

I was also very pleasantly surprised by Abby, I did not expect that I would end up liking her and my heart broke for her several times over. That was something; it was nothing like the first book - it was way better. Never expected something like that when I started the first book.
It was a rollercoaster.

Because Ang is on a really high horse, using Tate and being a judgmental brat at best. If Nick was Tate's friend from the beginning instead of Ang her life would be way better. And I'm still a bit sour that nothing was done about Dunn and Petrushka, both deserved a horrible fate.
EDIT (08/04/2018): You know what? I'm actually angry this time around. At Tate! She was seriously getting on my nerves. And I just suddenly realized that through the series she did a lot of crappy things as well, but no one was really mad at her. Well, except for her family but they sort of don't count. Because they would be angry even if she did everything right. But every single person is punished for a single word they say, and even if it's not really about Tate, she gets angry. But then got forbid anyone mentions the pool incident to her. Or anything she did or is doing that is stupid. I don't know if I sort of outgrew Tate, and she seems childish now or what happened. But definitely, I need to change the rating. Originally it was 5* now I would rate it 3*. So I gonna go with 4*. Which is another think Goodreads need to do! They brought the ability to insert multiple read dates, and now I need the ability to rate the book separately for each read.
Original review: In the end, I wasn't really sure who I would like to slap first. Because both of them really need to start using their brains! Loved this series....more
