I cannot say much about this one because the first twenty pages killed me.
This series gave me so many great characters to love. I had to love Kira even though he is the villain and mass murderer. I love Misa (not only because she's my namesake) but because she was who she was. She was the girl who loved a boy who did not love her back and only used her. She lived blissful life thinking he loved her back. And she was a ball of energy which was hard to control! I loved Mello because he was neither the good guy nor a bad guy. He only wanted to be better than Near, and in the end, he was because he became the last key to succeeding. I loved Matt who was hardly there and yet I had to love him and wish there was more of him. I still hope that Matt and Mello would get their own series.
I knew this would happen and Ryuk said it right away that he would do it.
And yet here I have to say something about one theory. (view spoiler)[What if Near used the Death Note. What if when he got the real one, he wrote down that Mikami would come and do what he did and not suspect that his Death Note is fake and then commit suicide. It is very possible. Or maybe I just don't want Near to win this easily. I can agree that Light might have missed this possibility and he was supposed to lose. But still... This is not how it ends in my mind. Loved Misa in this one, she's hilarious and I loved Mello's reaction to her, so much fun.
However, I have to say that I miss the old days where Light could freely communicate with Ryuk. Now, we have Ryuk on the page but he's just there, standing and watching. The apple loving creature needs more space! And I want Mello to meet Ryuk!
And hopefully, I don't even need to mention that I don't like Near. The monkey child is rather boring and honestly, he does not seem to have any ideas of his own. L thought that something was true so Near follows it. ...more

- This was me while reading all the time! Since we were reading only 5 or 6 chapters per day (okay except for the last but one when we read 12 but WE NEEDED ANSWERS!)
- Mary had to suffer through numerous of my conspiracy theories and since I had so much time to think about those theories. Some of them were crazily correct! I have to say; my theory game was on point with this one!
- When I first found out about this book, it really reminded me about Three Dark Crowns. With the title, with the cover (I know it's blue, now but my screen colour is always so much down that it seemed black). And I even thought that this was the last book in that series. And now I just hope that people won't mistake it for TDC because this is worth reading!
- You get action from the first page! Somethings happening all the time and you're trying to connect all those dots, and then you find out that you completely overlooked something. (Or you did not think that it was important!)
- I like Kera! She's snarky, rude and resourceful! She's fun, and I really liked her, it was a long time since I liked the main female character that much!
- This book made me laugh at the most inappropriate moments!

I really liked this series and even this book. But the problem was that in this one you could really feel how much it was rushed! It needed a hundred more pages. I adore Ian; I always did, he was my favourite character. Thought that the way he was treated by his friends was uncalled for. Come on, they only had to ask, and he stood by them. But no, they stilled douted him.

Ha! I feel that this is a bit of a dig at people who worried that Ian wouldn't be the same! Pretty clever.
My main fear was that Ian wouldn't be the same wicked, vulgar Ian we got in the original series. Look at what happened to Vlad. I don't need a hero that is basically a doormat for the heroine. But, I'm surprised to say that actually, he remains the same. Mostly. For now.
But where I liked Veritas before and was actually excited for her to be the heroine, I'm not pretty disappointed. (view spoiler)[1) She's 4000 years old and suddenly behaving like a school girl. 2) I was really happy that she was the traditional "bombshell". I liked that she was small and tiny. And then, boom, her actual appearance is this curvy, statuesque woman. I'm a bit disappointed by that. It would be nice if the character was a bit different than what you usually get. And especially since I was given the promise of this tiny not traditionally sexy character. I really wanted that. Liked the storyline, there was a lot happening. Easy to read. Great pacing. Saw a different part of the world. And then the end came. And I was let down again. I'm not exactly a fan of spin-off series or adding to a finished series. And with the Children of Vice, it seemed to me that the series lost its spark. I rated it pretty low. Then Dona's book was better, and I could not wait for Wyatt's book, and even though I do not like everything about it, the Callahans are back, and they are back with a vengeance.

There was not much of Dona in COR but I'm still looking forward to her book.
J.J.McAvoy is a master of unexpected and WTF moments.
I love Wyatt and how violent he is and that he does not really care. It brings the good memories of Melody&Liam burning the world to the ground.
I do not really like the couple, though I'm not as much against it as I was in the previous book when the idea was suggested. However, Helen proved much more capable than I thought she was so I think I can live with that.
I loved the whole book because it went from crazy to mindblowing and back to crazy. It did not stop, and no one was pulling any punches, all in.

My little problem with, probably, the whole series is that there are some problems in the timeline. Especially in regards to the ages. Once it says that something happened when they were 14 then 16 etc. There should be more proofreading in regards to that. It's really annoying for people who pay attention to that. I had to stop reading several times and go back to previous books and check if I'm mistaken or not....more

On one side, I love how cruel they still are. But on the other side, I think that the parent side of them changed them a bit. And I dislike Mel being a Governor because in a way it feels like she's going back on herself. It is not something that they would do, too many short strings that lead to them. They would just get someone to do the job for them.
The major problem I have with this book (or maybe whole series but it also continues in the Children of Vice series) is the really bad editing. And I do not even mean the typos (and there are typos don't get me wrong). I meant the fact that the consistency is non-existent in here. Previously I mentioned problems like Mel wearing a dress, suddenly trousers and then, magic, dress again. However, here and then in Children of Vice it gets even worse. When the previous book ended with the epilogue, it took time pretty much at the same time as A Bloody Kingdom. In the epilogue of the American Savages, we see Monte and Fedel waiting for Mel and Liam. But in here Melody mentions that Monte died a long time ago. And that's one of the things I really hate! And with every re-read of this series, I keep seeing more and more of these little misshaps. So, I think that there will be no re-read of this in a long time.
By the way, can I say that I do not like Coraline?

When the third book ended my first thought was that I cannot imagine Liam and Melody being old. With teenage kids, adult kids and then grandchildren. It wasn't them.

Those are small things, but they chip on an otherwise great book!
And what I said after my last re-read of the first book. The Italian sentences are wrong! It really seems like Google translate sentences. Please, please, go on a Facebook find an Italian (native-speaking one) and ask them to look at the sentence you have in Italian. It will be life (and the reader), saver.

When Melody finally gives her what she wanted for years, she still finds a ground how to bitch about life being unfair.
Melody is the queen of liars. She can put up any face she wants. Love that.
Melody is still the badass who looks where the next punch is coming.
I even liked Liam more than in the first book. He has more of a backbone and seemed way more mature. And he should seriously buy a hospital for Melody. And at the end, my heart broke a bit for him again.

The author several times said that she had it multiple times checked to make sure those sentences are correct. But I can say that she did not! I can see those mistakes. And I love this book or even the whole series. But honestly, I'm just angry with another series because the author butchered Russian there. And it is not fair to give this book a free pass just because I like it. I can recognise that the other author managed to butcher the language in a couple of words. McAvoy is failing on longer sentences. However, I'm telling you, it is better to have no Italian (or any language you do not know) than butcher the language. Also, because I read this book several times, I know it, and with every re-read, I see more and more typos, nonsense sentences and switches in the scenes. Like Mel wearing a dress, suddenly it's a t-shirt, and on the next page, it's a dress once again. I love McAvoy and her books because the characters are just so ruthless. However, she needs a better editor! And a native Italian.
In regards to me a little revelation, I need to lower the rating. But I can honestly say that if it was my first read, I saw the bad Italian I would be angrier. However, since I already have a little connection to the story, I'm going to be a bit nicer. (4/5 ⭐)

Love this because they are really bad guys and openly evil. And they own it. There is no good vs evil. This is about who's the biggest evil of them all! Finally! I waited so long for a book where the characters would just own that they are not good or pretend there is some higher good they do evil things for.
I don't say this very often. But I loved the main heroine. Melody was everything. Rude. Smart. Wicked. Evil. Cold. And much more. But mainly - She was a boss from start to finish. Also, Fedel is sooo damn cute! I want to see more of him.

I liked all of Royal's sons. Even Ella was pretty good. I just again had a feeling that after they got "together" the hero changed into a golden boy, not the bad boy he was presented to be.

I really did not want to finish this book because that would mean that it's over. Again. It certainly did not disappoint. Loved it so much! Riordan created a fantastic world which I do not want to leave. Ever. And he also created characters I wish were my friends! I would love to get more scenes between the characters without any fight and worries. Just hanging out and having fun.
