I cannot believe that this is it.
I cannot say much about this one because the first twenty pages killed me.
This series gave me so many great characters to love. I had to love Kira even though he is the villain and mass murderer. I love Misa (not only because she's my namesake) but because she was who she was. She was the girl who loved a boy who did not love her back and only used her. She lived blissful life thinking he loved her back. And she was a ball of energy which was hard to control! I loved Mello because he was neither the good guy nor a bad guy. He only wanted to be better than Near, and in the end, he was because he became the last key to succeeding. I loved Matt who was hardly there and yet I had to love him and wish there was more of him. I still hope that Matt and Mello would get their own series.
I knew this would happen and Ryuk said it right away that he would do it.
And yet here I have to say something about one theory. (view spoiler)[What if Near used the Death Note. What if when he got the real one, he wrote down that Mikami would come and do what he did and not suspect that his Death Note is fake and then commit suicide. It is very possible. Or maybe I just don't want Near to win this easily. I can agree that Light might have missed this possibility and he was supposed to lose. But still... This is not how it ends in my mind. (hide spoiler)]
And I have to wonder how different it would be if Ryuk was more like Rem or if Rem was alive?...more

Loved Misa in this one, she's hilarious and I loved Mello's reaction to her, so much fun.
However, I have to say that I miss the old days where Light could freely communicate with Ryuk. Now, we have Ryuk on the page but he's just there, standing and watching. The apple loving creature needs more space! And I want Mello to meet Ryuk!
And hopefully, I don't even need to mention that I don't like Near. The monkey child is rather boring and honestly, he does not seem to have any ideas of his own. L thought that something was true so Near follows it. ...more

So my review that took me really long to write somehow got deleted... :( Hate that. (Actually, it almost got lost for the second time, thankfully I was smarter this time and copied it.)
So, this is it? The end? It seems almost...sad. But definitely strange. Like I should hold a wake. Or maybe I already did.
"Everybody’s here. You’re here."
"You were there."
I finally got to the point that I could finish this series. And this remains my favourite comics series and the best thing Neil Gaiman ever created.
Unfortunately, I had a bit of a hard time remembering what happened at the end of the previous part but thankfully I managed to remember enough to enjoy this one.
"The king is dead, that's what they say. The king is dead. Long live the king.”
I was a bit disappointed by the ending because I expected something truly amazing that would blow me away but the rhythm of this one was slightly off. However, I still really enjoyed it. At first, I thought that it should have ended right after the wake, the other stories seemed wrong. But then I realised it just really makes sense.
“Nobody died. How can you kill an idea? How can you kill the personification of an action?" "Then what died? who are you mourning?" "A point of view.”
I hope that one day I will be able to re-read this series and it will be like remembering a long time forgotten dream.

After reading Checking In I just had to re-read The Bad Ones. And I still love this book so much. Love how wicked and insane they are.
Original review: What did I just read? :o
Perfection!
This is the kind of story I was looking for for ages. I believe that books have no limits - you can imagine anything. You can bring the most amazing villains to life for readers to fall in love with them.
This is sick, sinister, twisted and beyond wrong. And absolutely perfect. Dulcie and Constantine could be pretty normal even boring. ALONE. But together they are bringing up something in them. They are daring each other to be as bad as possible.
Usually, if you read a story about someone bad you'll be getting a long list of excuses for what they are doing. Then they gonna regret everything and change.
Not in this one. They're bad because they want to be. They are aware that what they're doing is wrong. And they want more.
“ When do we get to be bad again?” She smiled big. “Baby, I thought you'd never ask.”
I hope they'll be bad again - soon. Because this story just found it's way into my TOP 10. I just cannot resist the wicked characters, I guess.

It reminds me of the Mara Dyer series. You don't know what's going on because the main character/narrator cannot be trusted/don't know what's going onIt reminds me of the Mara Dyer series. You don't know what's going on because the main character/narrator cannot be trusted/don't know what's going on either. I think this is the kind of book you love, or you hate, nothing in between.
I went through many reviews of this novel. There were several things that were driving the readers crazy. My point? I loved them. But I also understand why you may have hated this book.
1) The writing is sometimes... not that usual.
I plunge down, down to rocky rocky bottom, and I can see the base of Beechwood Island and my arms and legs feel numb but my fingers are cold. Slices of seaweed go past as I fall. And then I am up again, and breathing. I’m okay, my head is okay, no one needs to cry for me or worry about me. I am fine, I am alive. I swim to shore.
More like a poem than a novel. And I understand, it is not for everyone.
2) The way she's describing her feelings. I admit it's sort of confusing, for a while and then it's just beautiful. “Then he pulled out a handgun and shot me in the chest. I was standing on the lawn and I fell. The bullet hole opened wide and my heart rolled out of my rib cage and down into a flower bed. Blood gushed rhythmically from my open wound, then from my eyes, my ears, my mouth. It tasted like salt and failure. The bright red shame of being unloved soaked the grass in front of our house, the bricks of the path, the steps of the porch. My heart spasmed among the peonies like a trout.”
Hey! At first, I thought that he really shot her! I was like, wait, why is he not in prison?
Also, she uses colours and a lot of strange adjectives to describe feelings/situation etc. It's different, and I love it! And again, it is not for everyone.
3) There is a lot of weird "pictures" that as well describe the situation. A witch has been standing there behind me for some time, waiting for a moment of weakness. She holds an ivory statue of a goose. It is intricately carved. I turn and admire it only for a moment before she swings it with shocking force. It connects, crushing a hole in my forehead. I can feel my bone come loose. The witch swings the statue again and hits above my right ear, smashing my skull. Blow after blow she lands, until tiny flakes of bone litter the bed and mingle with chipped bits of her once-beautiful goose.
It might be weird and strange, but I again loved it. She didn't just state that she had an awful migraine she draws it. Is it called a metaphor in this case? Or is it a personification of her migraine?
+) I think that some people were bored with the "fairy tales" she used to describe her situation differently. And again it worked for me. It was easier to imagine, to see.
This book is not perfect; characters are imperfect. They may be spoiled, racist, self-righteous, cold, manipulative... They were human. Imperfect ones, pretending to be perfect.
And the ending? It was amazing, sad and amazing again. It was a shock but not a surprise. You slowly get a feeling that this is maybe what is going on.
So, if you are one of the people who hated this book, I want to tell you, I understand why. If you are someone who loved it, I'm here, absolutely excited and I want to talk to you about the book!...more

Znovu mi to rozbilo srdce... A to s tím koho Rose miluje víc?
Yes! :)...more

Miluju tuhle sérii, miluju tuhle knihu, miluju Rose, miluju... jo a miluju Adriana! Ble!

To rozhodně ne. To mi udělala strašnou radost. However, despite loving this, there is something different which makes it a bit hard to decide on the rating. I feel like there was something missing in this story, maybe too many characters, so something had to be cut... Because since there are so many of them, people tend to find favourites, and then they wish for more content about them.
This book had me totally destroyed, I did not see this coming at all and it was so painfully good, I just cannot take it.
I just wish there were more of Jason/Piper moments because so far they are quickly becoming my favourite couple. I adore Percy and Annabeth; they are the original Riordan couple; I could not wait for them to get together. And I'm so happy for them.
I hope that Percy and Nico will talk and everything will be all right forever. I'm not a fan of Happily Ever After but I so much need a happy ending for Nico and a book for him as well.
Neuvěřitelně smutná a o to víc krásná.
