About this item

  • EFFICIENT HEAT DISSIPATION: lower SSD heat and faster cooling. Thanks to its additional mass, the ARCTIC M2 Pro effectively dissipates heat and transfers it to the environment
  • RELIABLE PERFORMANCE: the M2 Pro allows M.2 SSDs to work efficiently and achieve high performance even during intensive write and read processes. The risk of thermal throttling is reduced
  • PS5-COMPATIBLE M.2 SSD COOLING: the ARCTIC M2 Pro meets Sony's required specifications, making it suitable for installation in the PS5 and PS5 Slim
  • EASY INSTALLATION FOR SINGLE- AND DOUBLE-SIDED SSDs: no screws or rubber bands. Instead, the NVMe SSD is fixed between the heat sinks using a click mechanism
  • TP-3 THERMAL PADS INCLUDED: the M2 Pro uses two precisely fitting ARCTIC TP-3 thermal pads. These adapt perfectly to the height differences of the controller, RAM and NAND

Pro? A Pro at cutting customers hands definitely
You would expect from a company such as arctic who are normally very good in the cooling department,However this M.2 heatsink has "Pro" in the name bit because they say it doesn't mean it's true at all,So what do we have here,And what are all of the problems (Everything)1. The M.2 heatsink cooling fins are sharp when arctic say use safety gloves to install your ssd they really mean it, The problem is those fins are extremely sharp and even though I was wearing gloves it still cut through and cut my hand,2. Unlike nearly every other m.2 heatsink that uses a small screw to secure the top and the bottom parts together (They supply the screw&screwdriver) This Arctic heatsink doesn't because it's "Easy" as it's a sliding mechanism, Really arctic please get some quality control on these because my unit is literally stuck because the metal is actually bent on the bottom part of the heatsink, So it's jammed, ( I know I can use two screw drivers to push and lift at the same time but you said it was an easy arctic with your none screw solution)3. The packaging is awful because arctic thought "let's make it look a wrapper of a pack of gum"It doesn't scream quality product at all,4. My unit didn't come with any thermal pads ( That's either a quality control issue at the factory when packing the heatsink) You need those thermal pads for heat dissipation from the m.2 ssd,5. Anything that cuts you when wearing safety gloves is a problem,What this actually is......A badly designed heatsink, Causes injury for customers using said heatsink,I can't even pull mine apart because if I do with two screw drivers it will snap the metal in half,What's the worst part,The extremely terrible quality control, No thermal pads on my unit, Extremely sharp cooling fins,Absolutely 100% avoid and get yourself a vastly better heatsink with a great design such as as the Be quiet! MC1,Why the Be Quiet! MC1 you might ask well in the UK it's £4 more than this, For that extra £4 you won't cut yourself of silly sharp cooling fins,The MC1 will fit in the PS5 also,So save yourself time and blood coming from your hand while wearing safety gloves and buy the MC1 instead,The MC1 is the vastly better product, At least that came with thermal pads in the box,

Probably ok if you have room above the drive. I think it would be ok, but you do need need a fair bit of clearance above the drive for it to work.

The cooling pads work okay, hence the 2 stars. The device itself requires you to push down to open it. The top side is razor sharp and can cut deep. this requires a serious health warning.

this cooler is a great idea and at under £5 seemed like a great choice.
sadly for me the sharp edges of the design in addition to the very sharp edges on all sides caused me to slice my thumb open when applying pressure to seal the drive into the cooler.

Also the drive heatsink is about 3mm longer than most other heatsinks, so you need to be very precise with the m.2 drive placement or the heatsink just won't sit inbetween the m.2 slot and the m.2 latch.

Also if the motherboard has a support or foam block between the mounts, this will also need to be removed.

I bought 2 of these heatsinks. and one of them was either damged in transit or just poorly assembled and i was unable to get the two sections apart, it was jammed in.
After this experience i returned both units, and put a plaster on my bleeding thumbs.

This is a great heating, thick aluminum. Hard to get apart at first but once installed it looks and operates great.

I only used one thermal pad (idk how you’d attach both and still get the cover on)

For $5 it’s unbeatable. Arctic products are great value for the price

    - passt haargenau in die PS5
    - fühlt sich hochwertig an
    - optisch wirklich top mit dem brushed Finish
    - Preis Leistung extrem gut

This heat sink is nothing special. It is quite literally a hunk of aluminum designed to absorb all the heat from your SSD. With that said, as long as you aren’t pushing the drive to its limits, the heating does what it was designed to do.

That’s not to say there aren’t any flaws. The heatsink could benefit from having a deeper fins for airflow. Additionally, while the assembly is very straightforward, disassembly is like disassembly a bomb, and just as dangerous thanks to the sharp edges of the heating.

However, if you are like me and just need something to attach to an old drive to throw into a PS5, this product is more than adequate, especially for the price! As of right now I give this a 4/5, but we’ll see if that review changes if/when I have to take it apart in the future.
