The best way to make the most of your desk space
Myself, like many others over the last 12 months have been working from home - so I setup a brand new office, and instead of trying to track down a desk, which were unsurprisingly very hard to come by, I bought some drawers, an oak worktop and got creative.Prior to this, I had a large ultrawide (and heavy!) monitor which really ate into my space...in hindsight I should of got a larger workspace, but regardless, mounting seemed to be the solution to my problems.I was admittedly sceptical, as this mount is much cheaper than the gas powered ones, and tends to have mixed reviews - some claiming it's perfect for larger screens, others saying the recommended weight limit is unrealistic. Given how easy the Amazon returns process is, I took a punt and ordered it.Having set this up a few months ago now, I waited to see if the monitor would collapse or sag and so far - so good, no problems what so ever. It looks great, takes up minimal space on the desk (thankfully removing the need for the giant mount that typically comes with monitors of this size) and is still easily flexible, if you want a different tilt, rotation, etc. - couldn't be easier.I really didn't expect this to hold the screen, but it does a brilliant job. I would just reiterate how important it is to have both solid and thick wood (around 22mm in my case) to make sure this pressure doesn't crack or damage the finish. It can be a bit tricky to setup if you've got a really heavy screen, so consider that and enlist someone's help if needed! But if you do mount off-centre (I did to start with!), it's really easy to remove and install again.Let's also not forget how much cheaper this option is than investing in one of the much more expensive gas powered mounts which in my opinion, doesn't seem to be necessary.Overall I say go for it, but make sure you tighten/secure all the necessary parts so you're confident it's secure.

Rated for use with large monitor but struggled with my 38” curved screen. Tightened everything up to the max and had to attach a peice of wood under the desk for extra support as the mount clamp is in my opinion too small to cater for the weight of an ultrawide monitor.

Will cope with a standard monitor just fine but anything over 8kg it could struggle and need reenforcing.

Quick review for a simple product - like so many people, working from home has become the new normal for me and although our firm's been really helpful getting people set up, I needed something cheap and fast to make room for an extra computer on my desk.

Our work monitors are the cheap, lightweight but good Dell P2419H - which you can buy without a stand for £19 less, most of the cost of this mount.

It's easy to assemble, allows the monitor to rotate, tilt and swing back out of the way without effort, and it clamps securely to the edge of the desk (it also fits through the power cable holes if you have those). There's enough reach on it to mount near the back of a dining table and swing the monitor into comfortable viewing distance, and not having the stand directly underneath gives room to stow the laptop.

The cable guides are quite brittle feeling but work well enough, and the tool holder is a nice touch. The monitor doesn't move or drift position once placed, but it's easy to swing out of the way. I've cable-tied accessories like my external HD to the monitor arm to hide clutter even more.

Impressed. Not sure how it would be with a heavier monitor, but this combination gets you a nice, matte-finished and comfortable display on a space-saving, easy to use arm for well under £200 thanks to the low price of the Arctic Z1. It's not fancy, but it just works!

This is that one item you don't know how much you need them until you buy one.
Got one for my 34 inch screen and I loved every bit of how it works. Very tight screws, seamless setup.. Works well for a heavy screen. (10kg). One particular thing I loved was the rubber extension for Non vesa monitor. My monitor was non vesa ( never knew it was a thing till I got this).. I already got a vesa adapter specific to my monitor for a couple of pounds so I could use this arm, only for the arm to arrive and me finding out that it had a rubber extension to allow the arm to fit into non vesa screws. Totally blew my mind and saved me 25 pounds!

Great for smaller monitors, I am sure. For my own own it doesn't work great. It holds still fine, but if I move it around, it'll effectively go 'limp' as it can't support the full weight of the monitor.

Judging by the description, the stand should be able to support the monitor without issue as it is within the weight limit.

3/5 in my case. If you don't have an ultrawide, it'll be worth your time. If you do, purchase but with caution that you'll be spending a minute or two every few days trying to get the balance correct so the stand doesn't go limp.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 August 2020
I've bought a few different makes of monitor mounts recently, and this is the worst (although by no means awful).

The mount itself is sturdy with all the fittings you need. The only real problem is that the hinge on the arm only swivels 180 degrees. Which means when up against a wall you can't really get the monitor close to the wall unless you offset the mount far to the side of the monitor and fully extend it. This makes it more prone to bounce around. All the other mounts I've bought have had hinges that can double back on themselves to avoid this issue.
