Good Cooler, not great installation instructions

Good Cooler, not great installation instructions
Seems like a good cooler, only had it on for a couple of weeks so can not talk to longevity. Key points* Quiet.* Keeps CPU cool even under load.* Temps pretty responsive in that it cools down fairly fast after high load. The installation instructions, lets start with non in the box. The ones on the site are not overly clear and they have used animated gif's, now while this looks cool, Terrible if you want to print out.Overall - Would recommend!

Just got my hands on one of these and, after a long time away from building my own custom built liquid cooled machines, this is a game changer.

If you not into all that LED RGB Rubbish, and want a quiet, efficient and economical AIO Cooler for your CPU, this is the one to get. The version I got was Rev4 (The Latest), which has a few updates from the original ones.

Couple of tips here to take note of:
1. If you are installing this into a case you have already got, the radiator on this one is thick (38mm), plus add on 25mm for the fan. So this will stick out a lot, but if you bought the iONZ Kuro W07 Pro Gamer Full ATX Gaming Case also from Amazon, for a mere £50, it will fit in there like a dream and no issues with RAM clearance at all.
2. Also, if you installing into a case you already have, install the radiator first before the block. The instructions say to do the block first, but that's a real PITA. Personally I would install the radiator first even on a new build (after MB has gone in).
3. Read the instructions thoroughly and take note of the pictures. There are some steps missing, but the pictures fill in the gaps. Do EXACTLY what the instructions tell you. And take your time to get it right. Took me a total of 30 minutes to do it all.
4. I did not use the thermal paste that it came with as I already had some Kryonaut thermal grizzly to hand (which is my go to thermal paste for anything really).
5. The supplied washers for screwing in the radiator to the top of my case made the screw heads stick out too much that prevented me putting the dust shield back on. The slots on the case were narrow enough to forgo the washers. Now sits all nice and flush.

The VRM cooler fan on this is such a great idea. There is no noise from this at all, and definitely keeps them cooled. Overall it is VERY quiet, and having the added PWM functionality throttles the fans and pump when needed.

Have gone from a wraith type cooler with copper pipes and big fins to this. I went from and idle temp on a Ryzen 5600X of about 40-45C to about 25-28C. And at full load I don't think I have seen it go much above 55-60C

Arctic is a household name in the computing industry. They've been around forever, and unlike many of their competitors, they rely upon their solid reputation for most of their marketing. They don't often do flashy, RGB ridden products. You get solid performance at a great value and, often, it's even better than the competition at higher prices.

This 240mm AIO is exactly that. You get cooling performance that is as good as, or better than the moderately more expensive competition (*cough* Kraken), it's whisper quiet and a breeze to install (even in the CM NR200P which isn't ideal for this type of pump block). For my Ryzen 3900X this AIO keeps my CPU much cooler than both the NH-U12A and the Dark Rock Pro 4 in a Meshify C case (though this is likely due to being able to get fresh air directly for the CPU by side-mounting the radiator. More importantly, fluctuations are far less apparent with an AIO over air cooling, something that did bug me a bit with my previous setup because of the fans ramping up and down at regular intervals. Even at full load this thing is really quiet, though I'm using aftermarket Noctua NF-A12x25 fans on the radiator. However, I am using Arctic's P12 Slim fans on the bottom for intake and they're also whisper quiet.

In summary, arctic has delivered everything you need in an AIO - form, function and value. The extra fan on the pump for VRM cooling is an added bonus in my build (using the Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX so VRM temps aren't much of an issue anyway).

If you're looking to upgrade from air cooling, this is a no-brainer. It's cheaper than some of the bulkier options and delivers superior performance if you can deliver fresh air to the radiator. Even at 240mm! I'm sure the same holds for the 280mm and larger.

Used for an intel system, not recommended for new builders at least on intel since you have to remove the stock ILM (the metal piece holding down the CPU) and replace it with the included one, there are 8 screws which as far as I know have 0 use, these would be the fat screws included inside the bag of screws and washers. The cooling performance on this is good, no I don't have a hard to cool CPU (i3 12100F) but will be upgrading later on, opened up BIOS to 23c and under load was 44c max, ~4250RPM pump and fans that max out at ~1750RPM, the VRM fan will run constantly and doesn't run below 50% but is very quiet at all times, fans get louder at max speed but still very quiet and barely audible, another thing to note is the AIO takes up a lot of space, the radiator is very thick and the fans add more to it, I have a Deepcool Matrexx 40 (case) with an MSI PRO B660M-A (DDR4) and the AIO was hitting the VRM heatsink so I had to front mount it, I recommend getting the 280mm instead, costs a little bit more but the performance is much closer to a 360mm AIO.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating to install, but works very well and isn't too loud.

The quality of actual product is fairly good, looking very nice and working very well to cool the CPU. It's also not very loud, even when my CPU was was being used a lot the noise is almost non-existent with headphones on.

The biggest pain however was installing it. Now while the fans and radiator were a bit tricky to install, it was very manageable and doable with just one person. I cannot say the same thing about the pump though. The instructions both on YT and in the manual state that you need to attach the bracket to the motherboard first and then attach the pump to it. This is totally fine and no different than any other AIO pump... but doing it this way was impossible with only one person. No matter how much I tried, I could not keep both screws in the bracket while I tightened them. I actually thought there was a defect with my product until I looked up on reddit that I was not the only person with this problem, far from it actually.

While installing the AIO pump, ignore the instructions and do as follows.
Screw the bracket onto the pump directly (making sure that things are as level as possible) and THEN attach the bracket and pump to the motherboard.

Super happy with this cooler.
Brought the noise level of my rig when under load down considerably, lowered my idle temps by 20+ degrees, lowered my load temps by about 10-15. Exactly what I was hoping for and the best part, no RGB :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic liquid cooling!
Reviewed in the United States on 2 November 2022
Style Name: Liquid Freezer II 240, blackVerified Purchase
The stock cooler on my PC died after just a year and I did a bunch of research before deciding on this cooler. I had never replaced one myself before and admittedly was intimidated by the process. I didn't like that the installation instructions live online but was able to get to them easily enough, and they weren't too difficult to follow. Arctic also has a very detailed installation video on YouTube that I followed as I went that was invaluable, so definitely look that up.

The one thing I will say, especially if you don't have a lot of experience installing these things, is note that the mounting rails that go on the motherboard ARE DIFFERENT. When I was taking everything out of the box and separating it I completely didn't notice the round cutouts are different sizes/positions and the outer edges are rounded/squared to help you tell them apart (derp). The first time I put them on I did so backwards, and nearly attempted to mount the CPU block the wrong way. Take a minute to look at how these rails need to be installed for your CPU position and motherboard.

I had also never had to remove or install thermal paste before and while it seemed intimidating it ended up being very easy. The first time I applied it I had it backwards and the good thing about taking it apart is I could see that the method I used (dot x) fully covered the plate on the CPU, so that was encouraging. Once I got things turned around I had just enough paste to do a second application and get it assembled.

Assembly wasn't terrible; however I would suggest that you have another person assist so you have a second set of hands to help hold things in place while you are screwing them down. It took some fiddling to get the base mounting rails attached which would have been pretty tough to do alone, and the radiator in my case is positioned vertically in the front so it was invaluable to have someone to hold it in place for me so I could line up all the screws.

Best of all, the entire works only needs one plug for the radiator fans. My previous cooler had four fans all with their own power supply cords so it was drawing a ton of power and they were loud (something I didn't fully realize until I had the Arctic installed). This made finishing installation super easy, and everything worked perfectly the moment I turned it on for the first time. I was shocked at how quiet the fans are, I have my case two feet from me on the end of my desk and I can barely hear them most of the time. Even when they're spinning up they don't get that loud and I certainly can't hear them if I'm wearing headphones.

Best of all the cooling power has been nothing short of amazing. My CPU was pinning at 91C at startup with the old failing cooler and now it runs at a chill 38C on startup, and even when playing the most intensive games on Ultra settings with my RTX 3070 the max I've seen runs from 77-83C and those spikes are literally momentary before dropping down to an average speed of 65C, while only drawing 30-40W.

Very, very happy with this cooler. Thanks for letting me see every single blade of grass in RDR2 again!
