Wisp fountain

Wisp fountains are base structures used for collecting wisps, which will be attracted to the fountain when it is dark; either when it is night, or raining, in any biome. Torches and other artificial light sources do not prevent it from summoning wisps.

They require a stonecutter to be built.

Notes[]

Wisps begin to appear at about 18:00 in the evening. They will also show up if it is raining.

A new wisp will join the fountain every 30 seconds, up to three wisps (to confirm).

While hovering over the fountain while it is dark enough to attract wisps, it will say, "The wisps are coming." Once the fountain has three wisps, the text will change to "The wisps are dancing." This seems to indicate the fountain has the maximum number of wisps circling it, but it is possible to have more, seemingly due to a bug or quirk in the way the wisp spawning works.

If you have more than one fountain close by, the maximum amount of wisps is shared between the fountains. Spread the fountains out to allow them to have their own maximum.

If they are not caught before day comes, wisps will fly away and disappear. During the day, while hovering over the fountain, it will say, "The wisps demand darkness."
