The structure will lose 34 durability whenever it deals damage.
Unlike most structures, sharp stakes will not provide back its crafting materials when removed by a hammer or destroyed due to dealing damage.

They will draw aggro from enemies in the vicinity.
Players can stand on the middle of the stakes without taking damage.
