To be honest, at this point I was very tired, and I only wanted to finish this series.
Almost considered giving this an extra star just because this is the only book where the female character does not end up being pregnant. ...more

This was supposed to be a spin-off featuring Devyn's brother(s), but I don't understand why it's labelled "spin-off" because it's just another book in this series, nothing unusual or original...
(view spoiler)[Well, basically, the girl was/is whored out by her own father, then handed over to the Russian as a... bit of a change in their brothels. The main hero gets her as a bit of a gift from Timofei. When he likes her way too much, he BUYS her for three million. At this point, I cannot even say that I had high hopes for this one... or any hopes at all. However, this whole "I do not want a girl trapped by a contract" was sort of nice from Konstantin. But, it was too good to be true.
Where Pasha chose the worst possible husband for Oksana, Kirill did the same with Akim. How original, right?

⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇ Might be a bit spoilerish!🛑❌😑
First, this cover is absolutely awful! The worst in the whole series.
Second, I was interested in this one, however, by now I should have known better. Especially since Timofei went on and promised Devyn that he would behave nicer to her than her father was to his mother. So, he promised to be a good husband, no violence or cheating on his part. Let's say that he went back on the first part pretty fast.
Third, again with the pregnancy thing. The contract states that Devyn has to be pregnant in a year otherwise the marriage is void. (And then Timofei amends it to three months! 😲) And Devyn does not know! She asked Timofei if she should get some kind of contraceptive and he's like "No, you need to get pregnant". Like WTF!!🤯🤯🤯🤯 That's so DISGUSTING.
Fourth, when the contract is no longer is a problem and they agree that they do not want kids now, there is an epilogue that shows that in 18 months she will be pregnant.

This one is pretty much the worst one. It's nothing more than a breading fantasy. (view spoiler)[She has to get pregnant because otherwise Dominik is supposed to marry someone else. But there are several loopholes. a) Dominik can get someone else pregnant and then be a good guy and marry that poor, pregnant girl or b) they need to catch his fiance cheating on him publicly or with a member of the Bratva (give or take). b) seems impossible because she may be sleeping around but she's careful, so he goes with a). But the girl has no say in it. He wants her pregnant, and that's it. In the end, he catches his fiance cheating, and he has his boss with him. So, they can say she embarrassed and shamed him publicly. But the other girl is still getting pregnant. (hide spoiler)] Beyond disgusting. ...more

(view spoiler)[Funny thing. When Yakov leaves, and Mike starts to woo Ashley, it is said that he was in South Africa and he saw her at her worse. The author tries really hard to present Mike as the good and sweet guy. But! When he "officially" meets Ashley, he says hi in Russian, she does not understand him and does not answer. So, he immediately calls her b*tch! If that is not a red flag, I don't know what is. Then again he is all nice, taking her on dates and stuff but the moment she says that she wants Yakov he is all nasty once again. But Ashley still thinks about him as the good guy. (hide spoiler)]

And every book seems like a rehearsal of the previous ones. The first one was bad. What did I think? :o Well, I did not think, and it's not my fault. Completely. My friend and I pretty often switch our e-readers, and we just did. I told her about reading the first one in the series, along with the problems I had and she told me to read the rest of the series with a bit of threatening and laughing. So I did. Because I figured it could not be much worse than the first one was.
Man, was I wrong?
Where I liked the main female character more than the previous one, I seriously wanted to chuck the book out of the window.
There is not much I'm going to say about this book, but I need to say one thing.
My Russian is a bit rusty (okay, a lot).
But even I see that the author butchered it!
moy chernovolosyy koroleva
moy - is used for a male
chernovolosyy - also for a male
koroleva - and suddenly a Queen. A female.
It is not something that is in English, so I get it that it is confusing. But trust me, it looks really really bad.
There were more problems with Russian, but I think this is enough to illustrate. And the thing that bugs me is the fact that if I was writing anything and had a sentence in a language, I do not speak I would get a native speaker to check it for me. Honestly, it would take me thirty seconds to go to Facebook, find a local Expat group and I bet if I posted a question "Hello, writing a book/story. How would you say this sentence xx in Russian? Thank you!" And I'm telling you, you would get tens of answers! Was it hard? No. I have no idea why the author did not do that.
Another thing that bugs me. The main male calls the girl "his blyad". I'm not going to go into the fact this word has really, really bad connotation. But the thing that made me angry is the fact this is a five-letter word, and the author managed to mistype it three times as "blayd". And actually, it is as first used in the wrong spelling and it really confused me. No one edited this book or what? You do not need to speak Russian to see that there are two different spellings for one word!
Nope, nope, nope.
Btw, every book had so many people betraying Bratva; I'm sort of surprised there is anyone left. Or that they are not in jail, seeing that they are so many people just waiting to betray them for the right price tag.

A hned z toho vyplývá další vět.

Can I say that this was just pointless and that I really cannot stomach Anita describing how gorgeous she is?
I bet that Hamilton has a file with a long description of every character. And every time they come to the scene she just puts the description there. Every single time! We all know how blue eyes J-C has. We all know what happened to Asher and how he got his scars. And how he hides behind his hair. We all KNOW that! And this outtake is supposedly 25 pages, but if you erase the descriptions, then you will have half of it.
I felt sorry for Ellen, she was made the bad guy here, and she definitely did not deserve it. And the moment Anita goes to compare Ellen to herself, I just wanted to punch her! "She's curvy, but my breasts are bigger! She's in shape, but I'm in better shape!"
So sick of this. And it is not the first time other women are put down in this series this way! I can very much remember Anita bonding with another female hunter over belittling skinny women. Sorry, that is not okay in my book. ...more

A ta její touha vyzdobit svět mě taky dostávala. Tu holku by měl někdo oficiálně zabít. O Barronsovi toho nemám moc, co říct, tak jen podotknu, že mě nezaujal. The style of writing is getting worse and worse. So much repetition and stupid description of how beautiful someone is. And still, overly describing characters we know for several books. I also "loved" that Anita and the other female marshal, Laila Karlton used body shamming of skinny girls to bond over.
