Losing a Wielder in battle may have severe consequences in Songs of Conquest. On this page of our guide, you can learn how and when can you resurrect a killed Wielder. In addition, we explain the costs behind bringing a hero back to life.

Death of a Wielder in battle

1 - Songs of Conquest: How to resurrect a Wielder after battle? - FAQ - Songs of Conquest Guide
  1. As a reminder, Wielders are heroes - characters that you can move around the map together with their armies. Wielders can die in battle. Although Wielder doesn't take an active role in battles, their death happens after all their units have been defeated (the mechanism works both ways - you can kill an enemy Wielder after defeating all of their troops).
  2. On the defeat screen, you'll learn not only of the hero's and all their led units' deaths but also that you've lost equipment and items that the Wielder carried in their inventory.
2 - Songs of Conquest: How to resurrect a Wielder after battle? - FAQ - Songs of Conquest Guide
  1. The assumptions of some of the scenarios may state that the death of a certain Wielder may result in defeat and game over. This mainly applies to story campaigns - for example, in The Song of Stoutheart, the death of Cecilia Stoutheart equals automatic failure.
  2. You can read about the requirement that the hero must remain alive in the bottom left corner of the screen. Once you are defeated, you have 3 options - accept the failure and end the current session, restart the mission, or load a previous save, e.g. from before the battle where you've lost the Wielder.

Resurrecting a fallen Wielder

3 - Songs of Conquest: How to resurrect a Wielder after battle? - FAQ - Songs of Conquest Guide
  1. If the death of a Wielder didn't end the scenario, you can resurrect the fallen hero. For this you must visit any controlled Town or Settlement.
  2. Click on the main building of the Town or Settlement and choose the option to recruit Wielders (example in the screenshot).
4 - Songs of Conquest: How to resurrect a Wielder after battle? - FAQ - Songs of Conquest Guide
  1. The option to resurrect a killed Wielder will not appear until the next round at the earliest. You cannot resurrect the Wielder in the same round where they died.
  2. Resurrection is initially very expensive - in the example in the screenshot, the cost was 4,000 gold and a certain amount of resources. The resurrection costs depend on the Wielder's experience level - the higher the level, the more expensive it will be to bring them back to life.
  3. The price of resurrection decreases over time - by 20% with each round. After 5 rounds, resurrection will become free. We recommend waiting if you aren't pressed to bring the Wielder back alive, e.g. the enemy Wielders aren't besieging your Towns.
