The Staff of Embers is one of the four Mistlands Magic weapons. Its primary attack launches a moderately slow fireball that flies in an arc. The fireball deals blunt damage on direct hits, and causes an explosion that ignites and deals Area of Effect damage against non-player characters. Damage and eitr usage are dependent on the caster's Elemental magic skill level. Like the other magic weapons, it has no secondary ability.

While the staff has two attack animations, first swung from right to left, and then back, there is no combo bonus for continued attacks.

Notes[]

  • The head of the staff glows faintly orange-red at all times. It is very dim compared to most proper light sources, but can provide a small amount of light in the dark.
    • The glow effect also makes players slightly easier to detect while sneaking, increasing the visibility of its holder by approximately 20%.
  • If one of runestones he left behind at Mistlands was to be believed, Ulf once set his own beard aflame with a Staff of Embers he ironically crafted under one of the ravens' guidance (possibly Munin), much to his embarrassment. This foreshadows the Area of Effect nature of its fireball attack the player must attentive on.
  • At max skill level in Elemental magic, the staff only consumes 24 Eitr when used. This means that at or near that skill level, you can technically cast the staff with Eitr from only a Magecap.
  • The range combined with the AoE of the staff's attack makes it an excellent weapon for hunting hares.
