bolt down

1. To anchor or fasten something in place, as with bolts. A noun or pronoun can be used between "bolt" and "down." We need to bolt down the shed before the big storm. You could check the manifold height at this stage for flatness, but I think it's more accurate to bolt it down to the proper torque value first, and then measure it for flatness.
