TUESDAY Before I Go to Sleep (2014) (Film4, 10.50pm) Following a car accident, 47-year-old Christine Lucas (Nicole Kidman) is diagnosed with
anterograde amnesia. Each morning, she wakes in a strange bed next to a man she does not know and creeps into the adjacent bathroom where a series of photographs on the wall begin to fill in the blanks, letting her know that the man is her husband Ben (Colin Firth).
Following award-winning performance as a conman in Pithamagan (2003) and a hunchback in Perazhagan (2004), Suriya played a patient suffering from
anterograde amnesia in the 2005 blockbuster Ghajini.
These events occurred periodically and irregularly several times each day and were associated with transient
anterograde amnesia. The patient had a complete lack of insight into these occurrences to the point of carrying a phrase to completion despite experiencing an attack partway through the sentence.
While attempting to save her, he was thrown against a mirror and suffered brain damage; consequently, he suffers from
anterograde amnesia, meaning that, although he can remember everything up until the attack, any new memories are forgotten after approximately fifteen minutes.
However, he developed
anterograde amnesia. At the 7th day after administering Vitamin B1, symptoms including diplopia, unsteady gait, and memory deterioration were resolved.
This unique finding of
anterograde amnesia with loss of procedural memory that correlates imaging has not been characterized to our knowledge.
At ten years old, she suffered a surgical accident which resulted in
anterograde amnesia. She writes on her arm and in her journal and has notes everywhere to remind her of facts and feelings--"Flora, be brave," "I am seventeen," "Movies with Paige tomorrow." When Flora kisses her friend Paige's boyfriend, Drake, however, that memory does not disappear.
Side effects may include daytime sedation,
anterograde amnesia, sleepwalking, sleep-related eating disorder, respiratory depression, and in some cases, rebound insomnia.
William's symptoms are similar to
anterograde amnesia, typically brought on by an event or trauma, causing rapid memory loss.
