Finally, someone makes the action-shooter-RPG hybrid I've probably spent seven years waiting for. It takes the Deus Ex formula, makes it more approachable but still deep and worthwhile. I realize some people would like a 1999 mode similar to what they are doing with Bioshock: Infinite, but frankly I just enjoy the game as it is. This is one of the few titles that I actually can say I was so invested in that... it was that moment where everything clicked. It's not perfect, but for me it is one of the best titles out there on the RPG market.

Also on one mildly annoyed note -- the boss fights aren't that hard, you use the rocket launcher for the first one, you use the one AoE AUG and stun grenade combo for the next (that's all it took in my playthrough), then you need the explosive mod + revolver and enough ammo to take out the next one, then in the last one you just play as your playstyle entails.

The Stalker games were RPG FPS hybrids.

Human Revolution is a good game even though it disappoints. Sure Deus Ex had many small maps and reused some of them BUT not as much as this game seems to. All of the maps are real small. Everything is scrunched together into mazes to make it seem more than it is. You can jump a wall or find a hidden path and be right back where you started.

Overall very few characters to interact with and it seems to be the shortest Deus Ex games. None of the choices made change the coarse of the game nor the attitudes of factions. It's linear to the end and you literally choose the ending at the end of the game. It's a crock.

Overall a fun game but a Deus Ex Disgrace. Shame on Square Enix. They seemed to be better when they were squaresoft, but that was a time when standards were much lower.

It works as another game, but not a Deus Game. Much Like RE4&5. Would be alright as other games but aren't Resident Evil.

Even though I love the game for what it is you make some valid points and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Absolutely amazing game. This was MUCH more than I expected. It drags you into the game nearly as strongly as Deus Ex. There are a few things though that aren't perfect, but a wonderful game you have developed, Eidos Montreal...

Superb in places and bad in others.

It's probably been said 100 times but the boss fights were terrible however they were easy after Yelena as my stats were buffed enough by then. I started going down the hacker route on med difficulty and by the end had pretty much maxed out most of the augments upgrades so the last two boss battles were pretty easy.

The world was well realised and had lots of interesting things to read and felt believable. The plot started with promise but felt clichéd and badly written towards the end. Also it felt as my choices in game had no real effect to what happened, I'm guessing at the end you are given all of those choices anyway. What's the point of making hard choices in the game when at then end they offer them all up anyway. Which brings me to the ending, which was the biggest disappointment. I would have liked to see at least a round up of what happened to each character or something. There was no closure between characters, Jensen and Megan, Jensen and Pritchard etc

It plays more like an action game than a RPG. Still a great game though and the music is probably the best thing about it
