Along the edges of the screen and in the middle, it’s as if there are stripes that sharply draw shadows.

I don't understand your shadows problem. Are you talking about the shadow cascades? About the lods... Are you using custom textures? You set a longer draw distance with the command ps_ssfx_terrain_quality?

The fact is that the distance for drawing shadows is too small. Shadows are drawn literally in front of your nose. Or rather, they are there, but only when approaching do they become sharply clear and detailed.
I use GTR. And yes, I entered this console command, but honestly, I didn’t understand what I needed to enter, because there are too many indicators, there is no single number from “1 to 9” that would indicate the drawing distance.

ps_ssfx_terrain_quality - There is simply no such command.

ssfx_terrain_quality - I enter this command, there are a bunch of incomprehensible numbers, changing which changes nothing.

Sorry, that's the internal name. Use the command like this "ssfx_terrain_quality 12,0,0,0"

So, I entered the command, the drawing distance of the LODs became larger, but still not enough. In the backwater, I can still see the bare textures of the rocks.
I tried to enter 20 instead of 12, but the game does not allow me to do this, it would be wonderful to be able to raise it even to 30.

Now about the shadows. There is like a halo around my character that draws shadows and when it catches your eye, it looks very ugly..

This is my problem also. Running Graupel snow mod. Same pop in for distance ground textures even after maxing out terrain quality setting. He has obviously limited this for performance but should suggest a file edit really.

This is a know problem with some systems. I can't replicate this specific issue on my end, so is very difficult for me to fix the problem at the moment.

The only solution at the moment is to disable the "Force Volumetric" option.

Im using mods from Atmos vanilla Anomaly install guide, that would be:Beefs NVGs, Atmospherics, Screen Space Shaders, Enhanced Shaders (This is the video itself Youtu.be). I was using Atmospherics 2.43 and SSS 19 before, couple of days ago I updated only these 2 mods and this bug appeared. Deleted shader cache and restored default settings in MCM. Is that possible that i need to start a new game to fix that?

UPD:
I disabled and enabled all of these mods one by one, and it seems that the source of the error is in the SSS itself. I launched Anomaly in Debug mode and changed weather to stormy1. The problem is - when the lightning strikes, the light doesn't disappears over time, it became more bright instead, here is the link(before the lightning strike, right after, some time after) Imgur.com

UPD#2:
I was disabling all mods except SSS and the problem remained, so naturally, i assumed that the bug was in SSS but then i decided to turn it off too, game crashed because of MCM error so i had to disable MCM with it. And it turned out that it wasn't SSS fault because i still got the bug. Apparently the problem was the weather manager in debug mode (first time im seeing bugged debug tool lol)

So what i've did was- put down this in console "cfg_load grading_default" it didn't help and i've used "cfg_load atmos" and the bug vanished. The reason im telling this is because i did the "cfg_load atmos" before but it didnt work on itself, but after using previous command it worked. Right now everything works just fine(i haven't tried the Pulse anomaly yet though, but i'll update if anthing) Here are some links to posts with similar issues where i get part of the solution from Moddb.com Reddit.com

UPD: it had nothing to do with cfgs , just press Play button in debug weather manager to fix it. I have no idea if this only happens if u spawn lightnings using debugger or its the same if they happen "naturally", but i guess it will and in that case something is messed up with weather controll in latest versions of SSS or Atmospherics

The problem with lightnings and the Weather Menu is a vanilla issue. I'm still not 100% sure about the problem with the Pulse Anomaly. In my PC the effect works fine, but some users are with the same problem. Not really sure at the moment what is causing the issue, maybe is related to some addon editing the parameters of the Pulse, but I can't confirm...

Yes i think its vanilla, its just, it started to happen when i updated SSS and Atmos, so i guess something in these mods are triggering vanilla bug.

Do i have to turn off HDAO now and turn on SSDO when using the SSDO module?
And is it "better" or "enough" to use volumetric lightning instead of volumetric and screen space together? Before i had it set to "both"

If you want to use the AO module you need to select the SSDO option. It is recommended to use the volumetric option, both is also a good option, it's up to you.

Ok, one last try for this release.
Saw the latest STALKER-Anomaly-modded-exes_2024.03.12.
GPU is Nvidia 1080

With shaders 20.2 and the latest modded exes;
Still no puddles, faint rain splash using weather rain_3, rain_1
Terrain upgrade
Force volumetric is on
Volumetric flickering odd shadows reduced with settings, volumetric resolution 19, volumetric intensity .01
With darker weather faint light striations on ground near fires.

Now, using nothing special, same settings release 19 has puddles right out of the box. Same flickering issue on volumetric force on.
So what is different with puddles or lighting that removes the ground puddle reflections, and now causes light striation on the ground near fires.

Did both evaluations at the farm. With 20.2, walking close to Xeno he gets a shadow on his right like the light source is above him, not to his left. Back up from him couple paces it disappears. Walking to the jail cell the rear wall gets a shadow when close. Back up, switches off. Fires in say rain_3 have ground striations. No puddles visible
Same exact place in 19 release Volumetric issues with light bulb sources the same. No ground striations with fires, and puddles are visible along with rain splash.

Anyone have an idea?

Edit: with new exes I may not have puddle reflection now, with version 19 which worked prior. I'll check later. Also vanilla graphic settings.

The difference is the in 20.2 they are not visible at all, low ground collision with rain splash that's it. No puddle splash, reflection not even transparent.

In 19 they are there with rain splash collision just no reelection with new exes. Totally transparent.

Another update.
Used totally vanilla user.ltx. Shaders 20.2 with terrain upgrade.

I now have puddles.
I cannot use my weather mod, light settings or color settings that worked with release 19.

Embracing the forced volumetric;
The effect is awesome in game. I still have a faint flickering square with some fire angles.
Switching shadow on either side of xeno where no shadow would be with bulb position.

I have the same problem, puddles disappeared completely :( does this solution works and makes the puddles reappear again ? I switched to SSS V18 and and they are there. New version V20 no puddles :(

The flickering problem is a know problem with some systems, I tested the problem a lot, but I can't reproduce the issue on my end.

The issue with the puddles is an incorrect installation. Just follow the installation guide, remember to install the binaries and it will work if no other addon is replacing files from SSS.

Now it doesnt work, and looks more horribly.
I don't have any mod, that touches Pulse anomaly.

Has anyone encountered the problem of drawing shadows right in front of the nose?
I saw this in GTA 5, there seemed to be a line in front of the character that added shadows.
Today I was playing and, having climbed onto the roof, I saw a stripe of shadow about 10 meters in front of me; as I moved, this stripe moved and drew in the shadows.

Please people, helpe.

What did you do with “SSR” that because of this function, performance dropped by 20% even in dry weather, and the load on the video card increased by 10% (I have a GTX 1080 Ti)?
On version 19, performance does not drop at all with “SSR” and the quality (sharpness) is even better than in version 20 with the “Blur” parameter set to 0.

Not idea of the cause of your issue. The new SSR is working at the same speed on my system. Also, If I set the blur parameter to 0 the "sharpness" is almost identical to the old SSR.

After installing the module “08 - New Shadow & Light Features” a darkening appears around the perimeter of the screen, similar to a vignette, especially noticeable in clear weather. Is there any way to remove this?

Increase the volumetric resolution, is very low by default. ( SSS Settings -> Shadow & Light -> Volumetric Resolution )

hello man, great mod! i have a small problem, I'm playing GAMMA, and after the last update, the rain puddle don't form anymore. Switching back to V18, I see the rain puddles forming. do you have any idea wy or how can I activate them manually ? thanks

This is has to do with the latest GAMMA update, they are using the SSS V 20, installing the V20.2 manually and desactivating the V20 will make the puddle return with "ok" look,but I don't know what can happen is I install such big mod in gamma modpack. I will wait their update. Good work and keep the hard work

transfer the executable files to the game folder.Also, the sss addon should be installed very first, then all the others.When you first start with the sss addon, delete the shadercashe folder

I understood what was going on.
Manuel, I don’t know if you’re reading this, but cascades of shadows are being drawn very close, right before your eyes. Is it possible to somehow increase the distance?
And the problem with the drawing range of LODs is still just as relevant, although it has become a little better after the console command you gave. (using GTR)

My flashlight glitches when I turn on the surround light in the SSR settings, here is a video demonstration of the bug

And if you turn off the diffused light, it works fine, but a glitch already appears on some light bulbs

As for me puddles no longer appear on dirt ground, asphalt only. Only removing detail folder brings them back. Used to work fine with prev versions of this mod.

Also it seems new terrain features works also with asphalt only, there are no changes with dirt terrain compared to vanilla.

Am I missing something? Thx in advance

If you're using custom textures for your terrain, the new system will not work.
