Edit I figured it out! Its the headlamps or flashlight that is active while the campfire is burning. Did a test on a vanilla Anomaly install... Is there a fix for this anywhere?

Any idea why there is a flickering black shadow under campfires? I've tried disabling SSS and HFX and deleted shadercache but still, it just happens from some angles.

This can happen if you incorrect install the new shadow fixes.

Are puddles supposed to be cut like that? Also, how do you manage to get that sort of "wasteland" filter in LUT demonstration video with 1,2,0,0 ? For me it acts differently (in the end of the video) Youtube.com

Sometimes the slope detections code can be incorrect.
The LUT example is just a random LUT table to show how it works.

I noticed strange banding in the specular reflections of puddles. It's especially noticeable when shining a flashlight into it. I think it has something to do with the specular options but so far I haven't found anything that could remove it.

Hi. I got the shaders installed and the work nicely.( this was a test run with no other mods in moddb2) The problem is that i play with shader based scopes and cant get it to work. The part: "Be careful and remove any BIN folder included by the addon." confuses me. So i just install the mod in modb2, check the dltx and bas patch, then i go to "manual" and disable the bin folder? I searched everywhere but couldnt find a tutorial or help. Thanks in advance.

Shader Based 2D Scopes include a bin folder with outdated binaries. Just delete the folder included by the addon.

Thanks for the fast reply. But without replacing the exes how can the mod run at all? I tried it without the bin folder but it did nothing. I mean if i dont replace the exes and only install it in moddb2 the addon does nothing.

You need to install the binaries from SSS or Mr.Demonized. Those executables includes all the modifications required by Shader Based 2D Scopes to work. Just be careful and remove the outdated binaries on the BIN folder included with Shader Based 2D Scopes.

Thanks man, i managed to get it to work.
This is how i did it: (for those who have problems)
1-Install Bas
2-Install shader driven scopes and overwrite it with the bas patch gamedata folder: Create a map for this addon in the "mods" map in the moddb2 folder. Extract the gamedata folder from the dltx map, then overwrite it with the gamedata folder from the "bas patch folder" (only extract the gamedata folder, nothing else)
3. Install the sss in the mo2 with whaterever settings you like. Then go to the Anomaly/bin folder. There create a new folder, and extract there the the 2 modded exes from the MANUAL INSTALLATION - MODDED EXE\bin\Anomaly 1.5.2 folder. Rename the both files to something else. Then move these 2 folders to the anomaly/bin folder,(you can delete the folder you just created) where all of the exes are. Since it is renamed it will not overwrite, but create a standalone exe.
4. in mo2 click on the arrow facing down next to the anomalydx, then at the bottom press edit, the on the + sign press "add from file", and then search for the exe in the anomaly/bin folder which you gave the custom name.
5. install mod configuration menu, extract the gamedata folder into the anomaly folder.
6. Launch the game and there enable in mcm the support for 2d scopes.

This is how i did it, and its most probably the more difficult way to do it. However some guns with inegrated scopes dont work, but this happened to me even when installing shader based scopes without the sss, so i dont think this installation process caused it. Only follow this if you are stuck, or cant find any other easier way, as i said, this is how I did it. Thanks Ascii for the amazing mod.

Sorry for making another post about the campfire and black shadowboxes.
But I figured out what causes it. Its the setting to force volumetric light on all sources. When this is unchecked the shadowboxes goes away and there is no flickering. Is this something that you have experienced? Again LOVE your work! :)

I have to disable Ice version every time I get shader cache failed when I travel through map in order to play the game then enable again and it worked. I have no clue why but that's my advice if it happen to you.

Thank you for your absolutely amazing and fantastic work.

I have a suggestion for you, for the future do you foresee the possibility of modifying the dynamic shadows projected by light sources such as weapons, campfires, light bulbs etc?

I think this could be extremely beneficial for all gamers because as we know it is impossible to maintain a solid 60fps in some places even with an overpowered CPU.

With the "-noshadows" launch command, I noticed a dramatic increase in fps in all large bases while keeping the shadows from the sun, but I miss the shadows around the campfires.

Do you think it is possible to adjust them gradually by modifying for example the distance at which shadows are projected by lights or simply by reducing the number of lights capable of projecting shadows?

For example, the mere fact of being able to remove the shadows projected by firearms would give us infinitely more fluid and stable gunfights.

Maybe there's even a command for this already?

I got it to work by not installing 'Shader Driven Scopes', apparently it overwrites some exes inside the bin folder. And after reading Atmospherics page, I learned that it's required 'Beef's NVGs' w/ 'ES Patch'.

Hi Ascii1457,
With Update 20, my game's overall visual brightness has gone very dim with default user.ltx, enhanced shaders 1.10 (with color grading) and "cfg_load grading_default". Also using latest modded exes from github, instead of the ones in your package. Even in the clearest sunny weather the brightness is very low. Any help is appreciated.

Not rally sure about this one. Can be caused by a incompatibility issue, this update changed a lot of files and many addons are currently overwriting SSS with out of date files. Check is something is overwriting files from SSS.

Ok I have done some more testing and managed to fix the dark screen problem for me.

I also use Atmopsherics , that is the only mod overwriting SSS, on the Atmospherics page it says it has to have higher priority then SSS and I have always used it as such.

When I deactivate Atmospherics and start a new game everything is good, as soon as I enable Atmos again everything is dark.

I have now set priority of SSS to the highest so Atmospherics is now below it and now it works fine as well and my game works again.

However I do not know if Amtmospherics works correctly now, but I think we will need to wait for a new compatible update from the Atmospherics developer.

EDIT:
Got everything fixed now, I forgot to install the latest modded.exe, it was just updated yesterday specially for this mod.

So everyone else with blackscreen issues: make sure you als have the latest modded exe installed from the 5th of march or later, mine was from the 28th of february and was the cause of my problem.
