(17) The Sixth Circuit did not determine whether its holding would apply to agents of national banks or to non-exclusive agents performing mortgage lending activities for national banks and
federal savings associations. (18) Therefore, Part IV analyzes whether this holding could extend to national banks and to non-exclusive mortgage brokers.
Federal savings associations are similar to commercial banks.
It is not necessary to adopt the universal bank model in order to preserve the executive branch's supervisory authority for national banks or
federal savings associations; nor is it necessary in order to preserve the share of this nation's banking assets controlled by national banks and
federal savings associations.
The OCC says that it charters and oversees a nationwide system of national banks and
federal savings associations and assures that these banking institutions are secure, competitive, and capable of serving their customers' banking needs.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said it plans to conduct a risk governance workshop and a credit risk workshop for directors of national community banks and
federal savings associations.
In evaluating rated transactions that include loans originated by

federal savings associations supervised by the OCC, on June 20-21, 2017, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The DFA requires national banks and
federal savings associations with total consolidated assets of more than USD10 billion, such as the bank, to conduct annual stress tests.
In its complaint, AFSA contended that the city council exceeded its powers to regulate financial institutions and residential home mortgage lenders because many financial institutions doing business in Toledo are either federally chartered national banks or
federal savings associations, and therefore regulated exclusively by federal law.
That legislation would not have altered the executive branch's supervisory authority for national banks or
federal savings associations; nor would it have resulted in any reduction in the predominant and growing share of this nation's banking assets controlled by national banks and
federal savings associations.
