Release date- 30082019 - With Hurricane Dorian expected to make landfall in Florida early next week, the OCC today issued a proclamation allowing national banks and
federal savings associations affected by the severe weather to close.
In the new role, Gardineer is to direct the formulation of policies and procedures for the supervision and examination of national banks and
federal savings associations.
The OCC is a federal agency charged with the charter, regulation and supervision of all national banks and
federal savings associations. It supervises the federal branches and agencies of foreign banks.
The new publication reflects updated guidance that addresses such topics as prudent loan workouts, management of concentrations, stress testing, updated interagency appraisal guidelines and discussions of statutes and regulations governing
federal savings associations. Also included is information on real estate appraisal examiner issues with more illustrative examples relating to property type.
OCC, whose primary mission is to charter, regulate, and supervise all national banks and
federal savings associations, solicited proposals for data center infrastructure migration planning and execution support in connection with a planned move from the OCC's data center currently based in Landover, Maryland.
They are limited to the first 35 registrants and are aimed primarily at outside directors of national community banks and
federal savings associations with assets of less than $1 billion.
(4) On a second front, states have had to defend their anti-predatory lending laws against preemption challenges brought by national banks and
federal savings associations that are seeking to avoid state regulation of their operating subsidiaries and agents.
"OTS concluded that, to the extent the county ordinance purports to prohibit
federal savings associations and their operating subsidiaries from making mortgage loans in Montgomery County that include certain lending terms outlined in the law, federal law pre-empts the local ordinance," Bowman said.
The other institutions that provide at least one of the traditional banking services are state and national banks, state and federal credit unions,
federal savings associations, small loan com panics, premium finance companies and non-deposit institutions.
