Lore[]

The ruined islands of the Range are just a few of many chunks of Venetian land permanently suspended hundreds of meters in the sky after the disaster of 10 AFL in the city caused by a spike explosion. Previously part of the islands of Poveglia, the Range is now used by the VALORANT Protocol as a training ground, also containing a couple of offices for some of its senior agents.

Practice Game Modes[]

Onboarding[]
For the player to be familiarized with VALORANT, an onboarding session starts as you start up VALORANT for the first time in a new account. In there, Brimstone guides the player (playing as Sova) in the range, teaching movement, shooting, traversing, and even getting a feel of the main objectives. Afterwards, this game mode will no longer be playable.
Parkour[]
To test your parkour, strafing, and hopping skills, the range includes a parkour course that loops around the map and eventually ends at the top of a tower. The course includes jumping on small ledges and strafing around corners.
- To play the parkour trial, you will need to play on the "Open Range" game mode so that you can freely move around.
- Hand-prints mean that you have to walk around the corners and foot-prints lead the way you need to go.
- There will be several checkpoints along the course that will allow you to save some progress and go back to if you die from that point onward.
- You can reset your progress and respawn back to the beginning by shooting the Reset button.
- When you complete the course, you will find a trophy there containing a Tactibear inside.
- You're able to use agent abilities that can help you navigate throughout the course easier, although the course is meant to be completed without them.

Trivia[]
- Previously, the entrance to the office under the main hall was barricaded. This was eventually removed in v3.09
- In 3.08, players could walk down the staircase towards the then-barricaded basement to hear music being played: (Length is 4m 28s)
- The room was opened in the next patch, where players could use an interactive lore element to play a clearer version of this piece of music.
- The Spike Planting practice site has the same layout as Ascent's B site and B Main with a few modifications:
- The radianite crates have been replaced with cardboard and metal boxes. It's not possible to shoot through any of them.
- The mechanical door from Ascent that could be operated with a switch is replaced with a barricade.
- The planting area has been reduced, outlined by cardboard planks.
- The passageway to Defender spawn is replaced with a dimly-lit room instead, labelled as "Top Secret".
