A gene on chromosome 7q22.1-q22.3 that encodes a 26S protease subunit involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. It interacts with NDC80, PAAF1, SQSTM1 and HIV-1’s Tat, modulating Tat-mediated transactivation.
