Main article: Camille (Development)
  • Camille is voiced by Emily O'Brien, who also voices Samira Samira.[1]
  • Her production names (Lady Em, The Gray Lady, The Left Hand of Piltover, Diver, Cyborg, MI6, Mary Poppins, Hookshot Hookshot) were used to convey aspects of her personality.[2]
  • During her original reveal, Camille Camille had the surname Medarda. She was later renamed and placed in the Ferros clan before the official release.
  • Camille Camille and Kai'Sa Kai'Sa were originally one champion named Husk, the Hive Commander, a female mercenary from Zaun who was once Caitlyn's Caitlyn's partner before she defected after Caitlyn Caitlyn paralyzed her in a shootout.[3]
  • Camille was created due to a need for a Fighter icon Diver champion. Hookshot Hookshot was the only ability in the kit for a long time, the idea of blade legs came after the final design of Hookshot was settled.[4]
  • An iteration of Hookshot Hookshot could swing from a point of terrain and be recast mid-swing, this swinging could take the player halfway through Summoner's Rift icon Summoner's Rift.[4]

Main article: Camille (Character)
  • Camille is an 80-year-old augmented human whose Hextech heart has allowed her to age much more slowly than usual.
    • She was 26 when she started experimenting with self-augmentation one year after her parents' assassination.
  • Her augmented body, as well as her undercover shadow ops, have earned her the moniker 'The Gray Lady' (the Glorious Evolved's Glorious Evolved's patron saint).
  • Camille takes the role of a 'fixer' in service of the powerful clans, keeping Zaun's power in check from rivaling Piltover.
  • The idea of body augmentation is not so strange to the people of Zaun and Piltover, though Camille's particular body mod would be widely considered extreme.
  • Camille would never admit to anyone else her doubts about how far she could modify herself while retaining humanity. Her deepest fear is that because she's traded in her flesh for tools, others may see her as little more than a tool to be used.
  • Her fighting technique originates from her favorite weapon, the Shon-Xan footed glaive.
  • Her current grappling line and hook originate from the Western Serpent Isles.
  • She masters several foreign languages such as local Zhyun from Southern Ionia and ancient Ur-Nox from Noxus, beside reading and writing Ancient Shuriman.
  • She can play the cellovinna at a concert-master level, her favorite spare-time hobby.
  • Her great-great-aunt is speculated to be the escaping woman in Dreamsong.
  • In Awaken, Camille's eyes change colour when she approaches Jhin Jhin. This changing eye color is an allusion to her in-game passive, where she gains a shield based on the damage type of the champion she's attacking. That shot in the cinematic is her realizing that Jhin has set a trap. Her reaction is to first analyze the threat before jumping into action.[5]
  • It is hinted that Camille knows who killed Vi's Vi's parents.

Gameplay

Main article: Camille (League of Legends)
  • Camille is one of 20 champions without a single Ability power icon ability power ratio on any ability: Aatrox Aatrox, Camille Camille, Darius Darius, Dr Dr. Mundo, Draven Draven, Garen Garen, Kayn Kayn, Kled Kled, Naafiri Naafiri, Nilah Nilah, Olaf Olaf, Pyke Pyke, Riven Riven, Samira Samira, Sett Sett, Talon Talon, Urgot Urgot, Xayah Xayah, Yone Yone, and Zed Zed.
  • Camille was the last champion released in 2016, designed to make players 'feel like in-control badasses'.
  • Her design bears a very strong resemblance to Lin Beifong from the series Legend of Korra, with similar appearance, profession, and fighting style. She may have also been influenced by Gazelle from the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.
  • Camille's passive is so far the only instance of a shield that exclusively protects from physical damage.
  • Camille is the French derivative of Latin Camilla, feminine form of cognomen Camillus.
    • Camillus/a means 'temple attendant,' and has no Latin root. Earlier forms include Greek Κάδμος-Κάμιλλος-Κᾰσμῖλος-Κᾰδμῖλος, loaned from Pre-Greek *Hatʸmilʸ-.[6]
    • The name Camille could also be a reference to the mythological warrior Camilla who appears in the second half of Vergil's Aeneid on the side of the Rutulians. She is a warrior virgin queen of the Volsci and serves under the goddess Diana. She was said to be so swift-footed she could run through a wheat field without breaking the tops of the stalks and run across the ocean without wetting her feet.
    • Her clan's name Ferros probably references the Latin word for iron ferrum "iron".[7]
  • Her dance references the Airflare, a breakdance move.
    • A side-by-side comparison can be seen here.
  • She was first mentioned in pre-rework Evelynn's Evelynn's color story The Shadows Beckon which is no longer canon.
