Coreidae

(squash bugs), a family of herbivorous Hemiptera (true bugs). The body ranges in length from 5 to 30 mm. The scutellum is small, the beak and the antennae are four-jointed, and the legs are three-jointed. The abdomen is broad in the middle and often rhomboid; its margins are not covered by the elytra. Of the approximately 1,500 widely distributed species, about 100 are found in the USSR. Particularly common is Coreus marginatus, which is brown and 11–16 mm long. The insect lives on plants, such as dock (Rumex) and rhubarb (Rheum).
