LPP in the posterior mandibular region is likely to result in nerve injury if the perforation site is above the
mylohyoid ridge where the lingual nerve is commonly located (Chan et al., 2011).

This is because the roots of these molars extend below the insertion of the
mylohyoid muscle, which is connected to the submandibular space.
Sublingual localization is considered for cysts between the oral mucosa and geniohyoid muscles, submental most frequently between geniohyoid and
mylohyoid muscles and outer between
mylohyoid muscle and skin [4, 5].
Human submandibular salivary gland lies inferior to
mylohyoid muscle while rat submandibular gland lies on anterior side of neck having submandibular lymph nodes on one side and sternum on the other side.
Patient underwent wide excision, where the intraoperative findings showed a superficial cystic swelling with few loculi over the muscle layer of the
mylohyoid and the anterior belly of the digastric with few finger-like extensions between the muscle planes.
7 Denture soreness may be due to undercuts mostly in the
mylohyoid ridge and tori.
Floor of the mouth includes sections of sublingual and
mylohyoid arteries.
It involved the right floor of the mouth and tongue including the genioglossus, the hyoglossus, the
mylohyoid, and the intrinsic muscles of the tongue (Figure 2).
It provides motor innervation to the
mylohyoid, tensor tympani, and tensor veli palatini muscles.
Because sublingual lymph nodes are located above the
mylohyoid muscle, they are not removed during routine discontinuous neck dissection.
While the EMGs capture the activity of the
mylohyoid, geniohyoid and anterior belly of the digastric muscles, with minimal contribution of the genioglossus one, the tongue pressure measurements on the palate are generated mainly by the genioglossus muscle, with a lower contribution of the suprahyoid ones (23).
