Does 7.6.0 BC breaks saves from 7.5.0 NC?
I installed version 7.6.0 NC normally and continued a saved I had from 7.5.0 NC, seems fine so far except the fact that
1) a fighter had to suffer from buckler check penlty -1 on his attack,
2) a new wizard I added to the party has no sling proficiency????

Saves are not compatible between modpacks. You should always start a new game after installing a new version.

It appears the problem wasn't from different mod versions after all.
I reverted back to 7.5.0 NC (and restored the saves as well of course) and the wizard still has no sling proficiency! He has with heavy crossbow but not with sling (its also "red" in inventory).
If it makes any difference, I add the new wizard character as a 6th member (using TFE-X) AFTER I started the game, from the Inn logbook.
He is human, general wizard with combat casting and point blank shot feats.

Ok I checked again, the -1 AB the fighter had from buckler was because of Weapon Finesse feat.
The Wizard's non-proficient with sling still not found any reason why its there..

That's why I'm asking so, I didn't noticed anything on the readme.

Congratulations on your work regarding the mod of ToEE! I've been following your progress through the years and have only good words about it!
I am a big fun of pnp dnd 3.5 rules and play 12 years now! (mostly as a dm).
I was thrilled with ToEE tactical emulation and general feeling of the pnp it achieves.
The vanilla game is great of course but had something lacking and was a bit "slow", your mod made it much more completed and fun to play, keep up the great work!

Hopefully one of the local sages can offer me a few helpful tidbits: TFX has successfully activated yet when I launch the game (either by clicking the "play" button within the TFX interface or by opening the TOEE short-cut on my desktop) the game lauches without the Atari icon (sound-intact), then the load screen pops-up only to close. No error messages occur and the TFX fix doesn't identify any problems. I obtained TOEE from GOG and have the TFX within the GOG/TOEE folder. Any thoughts on where to go next? Prior to downloading the CO8 7.5 mod, my newly purchased TOEE (patched to 2) worked. Thanks in advance.

Hi, that is probably an issue with your antivirus software. unfortunately some providers flag the ToEE exectutable as a trojan (it isn't), and delete it or quarantine it when it tries to run or upon installation. It could also be an issue with installing the game to the Program Files directory under Windows 7 or Vista. Please post at www.co8.org for further assistance.

How does this mod compare to Baldurs Gate 2?

Is it closer to the BG games (in depth story and characters) or IWD (generic hacknslash so I hear)

I feel that the story is very good, although it's not as go here see this person do that and then go there and do this type of thing. TOEE is a little more of a "sand box" type approach to things. You have a journal and the quests you've initiated are shown there, but it's more or less up to you which you do first and how you handle them.

If you've played any PnP DnD this game will hit home with you. And if you like a good turn based RPG with high quality graphics and sound and more than a few surprises this is for you.

If you want a game where someone will hold your hand and send you to and from each quest with no room for exploring and no freedom to choose how you solve things, this this isn't for you.

btw, Icewind Dale is not a Hack n Slash in my opinion, although TOEE has a lot deeper story.

I hope this helps.
