This is a submod for Between Empires that seeks to add East Asia in the early 20th century to Warband. With several time periods to start from, including the Warlord Era and Second Sino-Japanese War, Between Republics will cover a particularly tumultuous time in the region's history and introduce a plethora of factions and units with widely differing playstyles and rosters.

There will be some 30-40 factions in the mod, some of which are either closely related or are part of other bigger factions. Some factions can also form a new faction with a different name and roster.

Will attacking still be basically a death sentence? Or maybe I just suck at between empires, idk
Nope; in field battles, enemies will now advance towards you regardless of whether they're the attacking or defending party. This is to prevent a bug where the friendly AI can just camp and confuse the enemy AI enough to cheese their way into attacking them. It's surprisingly hard to set up a firing line against the AI as the player, though; just making a few lines usually still means your forces get mowed down by advancing waves of gunners.
Urban warfare, on the other hand, will be different -- there will be no more default trench maps; instead, you'll have to fight it out in the streets of cities, and it'll be quite brutal to be on the attacking side.
can we build trenches or cover? and can the ai take cover too?
You can build trenches and take cover, but the AI will only take cover without trenches; with the way BE's morale mechanics work though, spacing out your troops in trenches will prolly be less effective than just giving them an open firing line and allowing them to prone-fire.
What happened to Mongolia in the 1947 start date?
