Today’s People Spotlight features Jamie Rivera, PE, PMP, an associate vice president and project manager from our Water business line in the U.S. East region.    Just three months after joining AECOM, Jamie embarked on a project that would shape the trajectory of her career: supporting a typhoon-stricken community’s recovery in Guam. 20 years later, and she’s made her mark in disaster recovery as she manages our FEMA Public Assistance contracts and facilitates recovery efforts across the U.S. One of her favorite projects to date has been supporting the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) after the 2013 Colorado floods, which impacted Rocky Mountain National Park and several mountainous corridors. Jamie served as the FEMA subject matter expert, managing their debris removal program and guiding CDOT through FEMA’s PA programs and processes.    Read more about her work: https://lnkd.in/eDaF5Ppz   #AECOM #AECOMVoices #PeopleSpotlight #Water #Environment #Sustainability

In the latest episode of Strategy in Transit, we look at how Toronto is balancing sustainability efforts within its customer-centric transportation networks. As the region seeks to decarbonize, leaders have not only implemented critical green technologies — from electrification and hydrogen fuel infrastructure to public EV charging and sustainable building standards — but have connected with communities to ensure alignment with public needs. In a lively discussion, leaders from Metrolinx, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation/ Ministère des Transports de l’Ontario (MTO), discuss what these efforts look like across their organizations — and how they’re keeping customers informed at each step of the decarbonization journey. Tune in to learn how these organizations are driving regional sustainability through transparent reporting and stakeholder engagement: https://lnkd.in/eyJrmzFR #AECOM #StrategyInTransit #Decarbonization

PFAS and other emerging contaminants have begun to accelerate remediation challenges in recent years. Chief executive of our Environment business, Frank Sweet, explains how this has catalyzed a new, regenerative approach to remediation. “The aim of regenerative remediation is to maximize benefits of mitigation across environmental, social, and economic systems,” he writes. “It can take many forms, but its central objective is to exceed the typical objectives of remediation — eliminating pollution while providing solutions to an array of additional challenges.” Read more from him in Environment Analyst on why remediation must have a broader mission: https://lnkd.in/egFzDsEE #AECOM #Remediation

Today’s People Spotlight features Ross Burke, a civil engineer from our Water business line in Glasgow, Scotland.    Ross first joined us as a CAD technician spearheading the ‘As built’ team, where he worked with engineers and project managers to create detailed drawings of project sites. This sparked his interest in project design work. Thanks to our Freedom to Grow framework, he turned that interest into a career path, pursuing a part-time degree program in Environmental Civil Engineering and transitioning into his current engineering role.    Today, he’s using his technical expertise and experience in the water domain to deliver resilient, reliable wastewater projects for Scottish Water — all while collaborating with experts from various fields, engaging with communities and gaining experience to take his career to the next level.    Read more about his work: https://lnkd.in/exG2Y_jT   #AECOM #AECOMVoices #PeopleSpotlight #Water #Environment #Sustainability

Driven by technology, economics and policy, the energy transition will reimagine how we produce, transport, store and consume energy. But for that transformation to be both just and sustainable, it must occur at the intersection of people, policy and technology, writes Jennifer Obertino, P.E., our global Energy practice leader. “By connecting people to new technologies and stakeholders, we can create a pathway for communities to benefit from and shape this massive shift in our built environment,” she explains. “Ultimately, our success will depend not just on high-level policy and innovation, but on unifying each part of this complex ecosystem of people, infrastructure and technology. Today’s People Spotlight features Stefanie M., a project manager from our AECOM - Water business in the U.S. West region.    While taking classes for her mechanical engineering degree, Stefanie learned the importance of the human element of engineering — engaging with communities and making a positive impact in their lives. This realization led her to the water sector and, since joining our Water team 15 years ago, she hasn’t looked back.    Today, she and her team are working on a 150-mile pipeline project that will deliver water from East Texas to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Once complete, the project will bring a sustainable water supply to the area’s growing population, supporting the community for years to come.     Read more about her work: https://lnkd.in/ecN8fprq #AECOM #AECOMVoices #PeopleSpotlight #Water #Environment #Sustainability
