"This year's HBCU Chicago visit was a vibrant success, reflecting the fellows' commitment to community outreach in congruent with the project they have been working on in the AECOM Detroit office. Activities were centered on community engagement opportunities, including insightful site visits to the local neighborhood, as well as speaking with and understanding what the needs are for the local demographic.” Nife Oseni, Designer AECOM - Buildings + Places #AECOMvoices #HBCUs #BecauseItMatters #SupportHBCUs #DEI #HBCU  Fellows Dana Goodridge, Isaiah Lee, Ken’Niya Dennard and Quaran Ahmad

"The AECOM Greenville Office was excited to have Caroline Sutton job shadow with us this week. She is interested in pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering when she graduates from high school in 2025! While she was here, I of course told her that Civil Engineering was awesome and that the field of transportation is so rewarding, but since she is really passionate about the environment, she also got to learn little about: Nuclear and Radiological Engineering from Kevin Taylor PFAS and Remediation Engineering from Timothy Renn, Hayden Beck, and Jacob Wortkoetter GIS and Modeling from Robert Stubblefield She got to spend some time with Jeff Cunningham and Sophia Della Rocca and learn about stormwater and erosion control, and she spent time with Jennifer Gillies who shared her experiences from entry level to Senior Leadership within our environmental business line. I am blessed to have such wonderful coworkers who want to give back to the next generation and we wish Caroline the best of luck in her senior year and in the future!!!" “As a woman balancing the roles of both a mother and a professional, I strive to achieve harmony between family and career. As a mother, I often need to take leave or miss certain events due to my children’s needs. I am grateful for my company and supervisors’ emphasis on and promotion of ED&I, which allows me, as both a mother and an employee, to have more flexible time to balance family and work. I hope that my efforts at work can set a good example of values and responsibility for my children. I also hope that my contributions at work will leave a lasting positive impact in this field, inspiring my children to find solutions to problems and face challenges without fear.”   Mia Hsu, Engineer, AECOM - Water, Taiwan #AECOMvoices  #EnhancedByEngineering #WomenInConstruction #BreakingBarriers #GenderEquality #WomenInEngineering #OccupationalSafety #DiversityInEngineering #EngineeringEquality

“Even though we don't need a designated day to enjoy ice cream during our hot summer days, GP2W Sacramento made an excuse...we simply dedicated a day to a cool delicious treat, to take a break from work, and to enjoy one another's company. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped! Good times with good people. And, Happy Birthday Matthew Gerken!!🎂 Helping make AECOM a great place to work one day at a time.” Aisha Gibson, CAHSR PDS Chief of Staff, Sacramento Office Lead #AECOMvoices #Teambuilding

“Celebrating 20 years with AECOM as a Project Manager, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride. My journey began as a Civil Engineer, and over the past two decades, I've had the privilege of working on FEMA Flood Insurance studies, contributing to the safety and resilience of our communities. The support, collaboration, and dedication of my colleagues have been instrumental in every achievement and milestone we've reached. Together, we have navigated numerous challenges and celebrated remarkable successes. Building and maintaining lasting relationships with our clients has been a cornerstone of my career. Their trust and partnership have enabled us to deliver exceptional service and innovative solutions. Working closely with clients has not only enriched my professional experience but also underscored the importance of our shared vision for a safer, more resilient future. It is through these collaborations that we have been able to transform visions into reality and make a tangible difference in the communities we serve. FEMA RiskMAP, while not always known to the public, is essential in building resilient communities, and I am proud to contribute to such a vital program. Our work ensures that communities are better prepared for flooding events, ultimately saving lives and reducing property damage. As I reflect on the past 20 years, I am excited about the future and the opportunities it holds. Here's to the memories we've made, the challenges we've overcome, and the future we'll build together, continuing to make a positive impact through our dedication and expertise.” Yong Jung, P.E. “Two years ago, when I first stepped onto a construction site, I had the preconceived notion that "Ah, this is all done by men!" As I learned more about the job, I found that many of my colleagues in this industry were women. Last year, I set a new goal for myself: to become a professional occupational safety and health officer. I started taking relevant courses and discovered that many women have aspirations in the engineering industry and are actively pursuing this direction. In fact, the gender ratio is almost equal now. There is no longer any industry that women cannot enter! I firmly believe that in every field, regardless of gender, everyone can find their own place.”   Eve Chen, Project Assistant, TRA, Taiwan #AECOMvoices  #WomenInConstruction #BreakingBarriers #GenderEquality #WomenInEngineerin #OccupationalSafety #DiversityInEngineering #EngineeringEquality

Professional Engineer | Project Manager | Making a Difference

Saudi was an experience! Grateful to AECOM for the opportunity to represent the company alongside Anthony and Doreen on our project. We had the pleasure of meeting our colleagues in the Riyadh office as well as enjoying the warm hospitality of our local project stakeholders and meeting our client in person for the first time. Despite the 45 plus degree weather, we braved the heat and I can confirm KSA is a beautiful place to visit with friendly people and I look forward to a successful project. #DeliveringABetterWorld #Travel #KingdomOfSaudiArabia

“In India, we are committed to weaving equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) into the very fabric of our culture. Last month, to celebrate Pride, by hosting some great events in our India offices – all with a goal to raise awareness about how each of our differences make us stronger. From making posters, completing quizzes to hosting leadership sessions, we’ve come together to celebrate this important time dedicated to commemorating the LGBTQ+ community. To help drive our efforts year-round, we have also introduced an ED&I Committee made up of volunteers from our Enterprise Capabilities and Global Business Services colleagues in India. We are committed to enhancing our workplace to ensure everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. It is a privilege for me to serve as an ambassador for ED&I in India and work with the team to foster unity, celebrate our diverse community, and create an environment where everyone can take pride in who they are.” Haima Haldar, Vice President, Strategy Enterprise Capabilities, India #AECOMpride #AECOMvoices #AECOM

“As a female engineer, I aspired from my student days to use my professional background to break through gender boundaries and contribute to society. However, since entering the workforce, I have experienced many male-dominated work environments and have been told to "leverage the advantages of being a woman" when facing challenges. This made me realize that breaking societal expectations about gender still has a long way to go. Looking back on my journey, I have faced many external obstacles and internal conflicts. There have been struggles and pressure, but also joy and camaraderie. These intertwined emotions have only strengthened my passion for engineering. As more women enter the engineering field, we are not only bringing gender diversity and inclusion to the workplace but also enhancing creativity within the field. I hope that by sharing my experiences and observations, I can encourage the next generation of female engineers and help more women colleagues find their inner balance between gender and career.” Jasmine Chuang, Engineer, ENV, Taiwan #AECOMvoices  #WomenInConstruction #BreakingBarriers #GenderEquality #WomenInEngineering #OccupationalSafety #DiversityInEngineering #EngineeringEquality
