Gin Liqueur will sit alongside nine new spirits as part of Aldi's first National Spirits Festival.
Originally, of course,
gin was more of a medicament than a pleasant intoxicant; the earliest references to 'jenever' appearing in the 13th century.
He said: "There was nothing around us that was growing which we could use in the Teasmith
gin, so we went down the history of Aberdeenshire and found the story of a trading port in Newburgh, which was used to import tea to Scotland.
But it isn't just the Greyson's
gin that Aldi has picked up awards for, the chain also received Gold and Silver awards for its Harrison's
Gin ([pounds sterling]15.99) and Passionfruit
Gin Liqueur ([pounds sterling]9.99).
According to the Wine And Spirit Trade Association, Brits bought almost 60 million bottles of
gin in 2018, up 38% on the year before.
