Atwood, Wallace (Walter)

(1872–1949) geographer; born in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1897, thoroughly inspired by Rollin D. Salisbury. He taught at Chicago and Harvard, then assumed the presidency of Clark University (1920–46). He traveled on every continent and wrote much, especially in the area of physical geography.
