* A 'CLOSED' OR INVITATIONAL INTERNATIONAL BIENNALE COMPETITION, overseen by a committee of experts, such as the main exhibition of the 2013 GICB; or by a panel of National Commissioners who nominate artists from their respective home country, for example the 2014 European Ceramic Context, Bornholm, Denmark.

Artists were asked to voluntarily apply by submitting their information through the GICB 2013 web site.

In order to do this, GICB has formed an alliance with Colorado-based WhiteWave, one of the largest soy manufacturers in the United States, to bring Silk soymilk--produced from organic soybeans--to the Mexican market.
