BRP is a project, the main goal of which is to find info about Far Cry's development. Also, we're trying to restore some of the cut content in our mod. Join our discord server, to follow the updates!
ARTICLES ABOUT FC'S DEVELOPMENT
In our articles we showcase and analyze our finds related to FC's development - general info, screenshots, video footages, in-game file information, even
pre-release builds.
REMADE HUDS
We remade 5 cut HUD versions (including X-Isle HUD) and made them selectable with some custom options while playing. They are based on various pre-release screenshots, videos and FarCry's files.
LEVELS
We remade the release levels to fit the styles of concept arts and old screenshots.
WEAPONS
Based on the screenshots, videos and remaining files we updated the weapon system: added some completely new weapons (Barrett M82, Handheld Mortar), restored (G11, NTW-20) and for the existing ones we added different sounds and animations.
VEHICLES
We changed some of the existing vehicles' models to match their cut counterparts.
ENEMIES
We reskinned some of the mercenaries and restored some cut mutants (including Slug and Omega) by using the official and leak demo's files.
For Beta restoration of Far Cry, I'm showing you today the latest mutant I have created. This mutant is known as Screwed, who has been cut from the final version of the game and never made an appearance outside of the game's 7th level Bunker, where it is shown laying motionless on top of a surgeon table.
This mutant is larger in size than the mutant Fat Boy by just a little. He shares the same behavior as the Fat Boy with an additional bonus strength, as it is seen being able to kick and use it's blade against vehicles driven by mercenaries to destroy or flip them over.
Not much more is known about the mutant and it's future behaviors thus we will have to create them ourselves. However, same as with the mutant Slug, for the first start I have decided to re-create this mutant from zero. I modeled and textured him myself, then built his skeleton in 3ds Max. To make characters livefully, I began learning animation to be able to make him an functional enemy. I made him larger than the original Screwed as well, by a head.
Work is still in progress, and the mutants will have changes to them.
All in after all, I have now restored three mutants to the game, one of them is the mutant Rear as there were no leftover sources of him at all except renders of it by it's original creator, Maxim Aristov.
That would be it for now from my side, happy new year.

Mutant Slug returns in it's new form, a modernized version.
A long overdue update on the status of BRP, and showing off our newest critter.
If you'd like to run this 2002 demo, and were previously unable to... try this slightly modded dll. Now it should work on modern NVidia GPUs just fine.
Taking a look at two builds of Far Cry from 2003 and 2004. Part 3.
Holy. F@#k.
I mean. What.
You guys are insane. I never went half as deep into research as you. That is amazing, I'm pretty much out of words to say. And since I can't be a part of the team (for I'm not capable of doing any of that, honestly), I can only wish you all the best luck and motivation and hope that this project won't go dead at one point of time.
Try not to let us down, guys. You're the best.
How's the development going? :)
The new part of the article is being checked right now, it's 2:45 a.m. (02:45) in the place I live in. It has been 40 mins since I posted it.
I found an interesting website where are some images from the early days of the Far Cry 1 and also images from the X-Isle demo. It's here: Unseen64.net and also a link to the website which is mentioned in the comments: Web.archive.org I add it here too because the link in the comments is not available.
Thanks, but I've already seen it!
Interesting project, i don't know if it's can help, maybe you don't know but Woulter, the one of the creators of Cube 2 Engine has worked on Farcry engine maybe he have some treasure to share or explain some things related to the Farcry engine i don't know, here his homepage, Strlen.com, good luck for your project.
Wow, that may be helpful, thank you!
Make sure you look up the FC demo. There should be a lot of leftovers from the earlier dev stage.
I've done it some weeks ago, and thank you for your advice as I've found some very interesting content!
Yep, I thought about doing it before, but I still haven't done it.
