In his fortress of Shaddar-Nur, the necromancer Shaddar, a pariah of the Band of Mages from Mystdale Castle, plans his triumphant return to the world of Ancaria. To strengthen his magic powers, he summons a Sakkara Demon, whose power he will absorb himself. These Sakkara Demons rule over those damned to rot in hell, the undead. Not since the Era of the Gods have any of these creatures set foot in Ancaria, not since the Seraphim army drove them back to their dimension during the Wars of the Gods. However, Shaddar's experiment fails. The Sakkara Demon escapes and turns on his summoner...

The wait is over, the download for Underworld / Gold version 2.28 is now available. This version corrects many SP, MP and quest related problems.
This release fixes a huge number of SP and MP bugs as well as some quest problems.
The game is too expensive. I can get it for windows cheaper and without DRM.
Also, 1024x768 is not a very good resolution to wide screens, so it should have come with a better resolution.
Fix this issues, and you get a buyer.
Yeah, but there wasn't any additional porting involved in the windows version. How else do you think linux porters are going to make any money??
The windows version also runs at a hardcoded 1024x768 resolution. IMHO, it's unresonable to expect LGP to *improve* the games they port (at least at this price!).
The DRM complaint is valid though; I also wish they dropped it.
Unfortunately we in fact have recently dropped the price. Last month, before coming to Desura this game was selling (and being bought) at it's original price of $40. The unfortunate reality is that games for Linux simply do cost more, and this isn't a whole lot more.
If you're curious about why, feel free to read Michael's blog post on or company blog from a few years back.

I see it says 32bit. will it work on 64bit systems?
Yes it will.
I tried to run it on a 64bit system and I need to install 32bit compability libraries and even then it's so slow it's unplayable. Am I doing something wrong or is there no real 64bit port?
Would it be possible to activate on Desura if you bought this over a different service (such as GOG or Steam)?
(Already own this via the lovely folks at gog)
Sorry jamesbuc,
This is only for the Linux versions of the game that have been bought previously.
I've bought it from LGP back then. Is i possible I can activate my purchased copy in Desura too?
OK. This system has been tested and we can do it for you. If you would like to have access to your previous LGP purchase on Desura please send an email to support@linuxgamepublishing.com asking for a desura invite. Make sure you send from the email address you registered the game with as your desura invite will be sent back to that same email address.
It just worked for me! I have it installing now. I'll uninstall the CD version after a bit. I just prefer the way I am able to manage my games and update them in one place.
As I've mentioned before I don't feel you own us Desura keys. I imagine there is a cost to you for this. But I do appreciate it. If there is a cost, perhaps in the future you could add old games to Desura as you release new ones. You could have an option to activate an old game with the purchase of a new one. Just a thought.
Thanks again!
It's possibly worth noting that the reverse is already true. If you bought it on Desura, you can also download it through LGP's systems if for any reason you are unable to do so through Desura as it's using standard LGP keys.
This should be possible soon, I'm actively looking into it.
Wow! I didn't expect that. I don't feel we have the right to expect it, but I certainly appreciate it!
Me too! :D
