"The EQC heralds a new era of class-leading electric vehicles being launched by Mercedes-Benz over the next two to three years," said Graham.

By the time the EQC is launched, 200 prototypes and pre-production vehicles will have taken part in tests covering several million kilometres across four continents (Europe, North America, Asia and Africa).

Making its first appearance at a motor show is the EQC, the first all-electric standard-production model from Mercedes-Benz EQ.

The small SUV will face tough competition from the Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes EQC, but it has all the right credentials in the practical family car stakes with five seats, 600 litres of boot space and a further 60 litres of storage space under the bonnet.
