About this mod

Collection of ini tweaks to boost performance without affecting visuals (main files, anyway). Will improve performance on most hardware (HDDs may cause issues, but probably not). Lots of optional files, including RT tweaks, that can be used with the main tweaks or alone. Please at least skim through the description, especially the "Known Issues".

Notice to RT/PT users: This heavily conflicts with the newer Ultra+ RT/PT by u/sammilucia... It is not recommended to use both at the same time... It will likely result in worse performance than using either alone or even vanilla... Your mileage may vary, though, so feel free to test if you'd like...

New "CET" version now available...
This puts most of the tweaks into a CET script and gives you toggles for some of the settings in a NativeUI in-game menu... This should not be used with other files from this mod (except for the "alternate resource loader throttler"  tweaks if you're on a higher-end CPU)... This will apply my ini tweak values when you launch the game (and when you press the "Apply" button in the NativeUI menu)... This version requires Cyber Engine Tweaks and Native Settings UI... No other files from this mod page have any requirements...This is the recommended version...

Updated "Saving and Loading" tweaks file for game v2.0... This can be found under "Optional" files... It limits the number of autosave and quicksave slots, as well as increases the time between autosaves to 10 minutes (and distance you have to travel before it will autosave again)...
I believe this fixes the Phantom Liberty progression issues that were caused by the old saving/loading tweaks file, but I have not played through all of the DLC with this yet to be 100% sure...

If you are looking for tweaks for RTX Overdrive/Path Tracing mode, check out my RTO Performance and Visual ini Tweaks (this can be helpful for normal RT, also, instead of the "RTX_Tweaks" from here, as it contains these tweaks) and my Customized Environmental Effects mod (this will benefit anyone with any settings, but does have RTO and RT edits, and is not an ini tweak, so is compatible with these tweaks or the aforementioned RTO tweaks)...

What does this do?
  • Changes autosave interval from 5 minutes to 10 minutes (along with a few other saving/loading tweaks)...
  • Very slightly reduces LODs for decals...
  • Slightly reduces Draw Distance (Vanilla draw distance is massively overkill... You will never see that far...)
  • Disables ASYNC Compute (Alternate version available without this for modern GPUs, i.e.: GTX 10XX or newer... Could be worse on some newer cards, though, so you may want to try both)...
  • Makes the game utilize multiple CPU cores slightly better
  • Makes the game utilize GPU/VRAM better (will increase VRAM usage, but should only do so if you have VRAM to spare)

  • Optional "RTX_Tweaks" download that very slightly reduces RT lighting and reflections (alternate version that reduces them moreso)... Seems to give a nice boost to FPS lows while using RT :)
  • Optional "RTX_Tweaks_75Percent_Distances" download that reduces some RT tracing distances/radii to 75% of their values... This is done with a one-line tweak... Just changed "UnitsToMeters" from 1.00 to 0.75... So is completely compatible with other tweaks that adjust the main values (like my other RTX tweaks)... Also, you can easily change this value to anything you want... Increase to boost distance, decrease to lower distance...
  • Optional "Res_Scaling_Tweaks" download to slightly reduce FSR/DLSS/DRS quality, which seems to provide a decent boost to FPS highs/lows while not impacting visuals too much...
  • Optional "Mip_Bias_Tweak" download that reduces Mip Bias from 1.00 to 0.75... This will use more VRAM and provide a sharper image while also slightly boosting performance if you have spare VRAM... If you're short on VRAM, try increasing the bias to 1.25-1.5 or higher...
  • Optional "Feature_Toggles" download that toggles some graphical features (on or off) that aren't super noticeable in trade of a few extra FPS... Check the file if you want to see which features, but I suggest to try to see if you can spot differences in-game first... Should be fun...
  • Optional "Rain_Tweaks" download that toggles Rainmap and ScreenSpace rain effects off... Used to be part of the "0Feature_Toggles" file prior to v1.1 of that file... Separated because it's more noticeable than the other tweaks... People that downloaded v1.0 should update if they want these features enabled (or remove the lines about rain from the file)...
  • Optional "Extreme_Feature_Toggles" download that combines the feature toggles and rain tweaks above, plus more toggles... Found in the "Miscellaneous" files... See article for list of toggles...
  • Optional "Lighting_Shadows_Tweaks" download that reduces some lighting and shadows settings... Will only really make any difference to FPS if you're VRAM-limited (or possibly RAM/HDD speed-limited)...

Installation:

  • Read the known issues below before proceeding
  • Extract to main Cyberpunk install folder (e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077)
  • If your CPU has more than 6 threads (3Cores+3Threads, 4c+4t, 6c, 6c+6t, 8c, 8c+8t, etc), you may want to download the alternative "ResourceLoaderThrottler" file found under "Updates"... Install the main tweaks first, then install the updated file (overwriting the old file when prompted)... This will cost a bit of performance (should still be better than vanilla, though), but will allow more densely packed crowds assuming you have the CPU/GPU headroom for them...
  • Short video guide for installing most CP77 mods

Uninstallation:

  • Delete the included ini files from your (e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\engine\config\platform\pc) folder... Their filenames will all start with the number 0 (zero)...

Known Issues:
  • May cause slight hitches/stuttering during initial game launches and loading of savegames... Doesn't really affect the loading speed, though (if anything it's faster, at least on an SSD... Untested on a HDD)...
  • Potential loss of autosave data due to the autosave changes... Back up your saves if you're worried about this... The changes to this help keep the game running smoother (higher 1%/0.1% FPS lows)... You can also choose not to install the ini file containing these tweaks, named "0SavingLoadingTweaks.ini", or uninstall (delete) it before launching the game for the first time... Note: This doesn't appear to actually break any saves, but still always good practice to backup every now and then... Check here on PCGW for save game file locations...
  • For info about compatibility with other mods/tweaks, check the "Bugs" tab (and maybe the "Posts")

Version History:

1.0 - Initial Release
1.1 - Fixed bug causing NPC animations to stutter during dialog scenes

Note:
The "Vanilla shots aren't actually vanilla performance... They also include all of my other performance tweaks... I'd be a good 5-10FPS lower without them than what it says in any of the "Vanilla" shots...

Also, the in-game benchmark results in the last images were super consistent... I ran it 4 times for each and the results were basically identical each test... The highest the "minimum FPS" got for untweaked was 22FPS, and I saw the drop every time... It happens right before the camera pans up near the end of the benchmark... It dropped in the same place with the tweaks, but as you can see, it kept me above 30FPS (screenshot is from the worst lows for each)...

I can't test RTX/DLSS due to only having an AMD RX 480, but according to comments these tweaks seem to work fine :)
