Full version 1C installer packed with Zandronum v3.0 alpha.
Changelog included on file.
Brutal Doom 64 by Sergeant Mark IV
Installation:
1 - Unzip the content.
2 - Place a doom2.wad file in the main folder. It doesn't matters if you got the file from Steam, Gog.com, whatever,
any official version of the doom2.wad file will work. Final Doom iwads (tnt.wad and plutonia.wad) will also work.
If you don't have it, get it here Store.steampowered.com
3 - Use "bd64 zandronum.exe" to play. You can make a shortcut of it on your desktop.
For advanced users:
You can extract all files from the skins folder, and make your instalation.
This mod supports any version of GZDoom (including dev buids), or Zandronum (2.1 or higher).
If you already have an older version installed, just delete everything
and use this installation instead. You can't play your old save games
with older versions, but you can use the idclevxx command to start the
game on the map you left (for example if you stoped the game on map10,
just type idclev10).
This installer only works for Windows users. It supports any Windows version.
If you are using Linux or Mac, you need to download a new sourceport, extract all the 3 files
from the skins folder, and configure everything manually.
Zandronum.com
To play multiplayer you will need Doomseeker.
Doomseeker.drdteam.org
You can extract the files from the Skins folder and run them on your own installation.
This installation of Zandronum 3.0 alpha that I included has everything configured for optimal performance.
If you are going to move it to your own installation, remember to disable the Enhanced Night Vision Mode.
This instalation is configured for a 1600x900 default resolution, on windowed mode.
You can change it to fullscreen and change it to other resolutions by going
to options > set video mode.
You can run either bd64v1_main with other map packs or vanilla Doom maps, or bd64v1_maps alone to play these maps
with custom gameplay mods.
You can control the amount of blood and gore by opening the console and typing bd_bloodamount * (* is a number from 1 to 4)
You can enable the "janitor" to make blood and gore disappear after some time by typing in the console bd_lowgraphicsmode 1 (type
bd_lowgraphicsmode 0 to disable)

No way of continuing a v1 savegame with v1b wads?
The increased difficulty turned out to be a really weird glitch.
imps, cacodemons and everything else that shoots projectiles, where shooting much faster than they are suppost to. they shot more and faster fireballs than enemies in normal brutal doom v20b on the black metal skill. And i was playing on be gentle.
I couldn't get passed the 3rd stage(on be gentle skill) 2 imps drained 200 health and Armour in 2 seconds.
I reinstalled the game, and now it is fine. I started on bring it on, and it is not that hard at all.
After i reinstalled it, i played trough a few stages. (on bring it on)
And man it is a big difference. I don't know what went wrong the first time, but i am sure glad it is fixed now.
I just found a bad bug. When you use the secondary fire on the ssg. it cost no shells. so you have unlimited ammo.
Bro, the super shotgun does not consume ammo when using the new alternate fire option in version 1B. It's basically cheating.
I am having issues with the game crashing. After I try to select the difficulty to begin the game it crashes. I have followed the instructions perfectly. This happens with both Zandronum and GZDoom. Any idea what could be causing this and how I can solve it?
Figured out it was crashing because I was running it in OpenGL mode. Did it in software mode and it works, barely. Going to have to figure out how to install OpenGL then.
how do i play this with gzdoom?
i have tried slade and loading all of the files and it still doesnt work, ive tried opening the bd64maps.wad on its own. it worked, but everything was doom, not doom 64.
Execution could not continue.
Script error, "bd64gameV1c.pk3:cvarinfo" line 1:
cvar 'bd_bloodamount' already exists
Remove 'bd_bloodamount' and all other conflicting cvars from your ini and restart Zandronum to continue.
Can someone tell me how to fix this? Great mod BTW this update just broke it for me.
How are you loading this?
If bd_bloodammount already exist appears, it means you either are loading another BD64 build or Ketchup mod.
The best way for me to play it would be to make a new folder titled "Brutal Doom 64", then grab GZ Doom 1.9.1 and extract it in there. Grab your DOOM2.wad and put it in there as well. Download Brutal Doom 64 and extract it in a separate folder (I made a useless New Folder for this) once you have extracted it, go to the skins folder and grab all the files and put them in your Brutal Doom 64 folder.
Here's where it gets complicated. You must create a shortcut for your new GZ Doom inside the Brutal Doom 64 folder and right click on it to access the properties for the shortcut.
Inside the properties screen to have to add "-file bd64gameV1b.pk3 bd64mapsV1b.pk3 ZD64MUSIC.PK3" at the end of the target,
so it will look like this in your GZ Doom's shortcut properties.
Brutal Doom 64\gzdoom.exe" -file bd64gameV1b.pk3 bd64mapsV1b.pk3 ZD64MUSIC.PK3
Once you're complete click apply to see if it worked, and then click OK to finish the process. Afterwards you can move the shortcut to your desktop and you're all done!
This will load all the necessary files for Brutal Doom 64 to work and is a separate GZ Doom from your normal GZ Doom.
*Remember to setup your new GZ Doom's mouse and keyboard controls, video resolution and other settings*
If the lights and brightmaps don't work, you have to go to the Config file in your Brutal Doom 64 folder and make sure it has this:
[Global.Autoload]
Path=lights.pk3
Path=brightmaps.pk3
-------------------
You should also download the "Brutal Icons" from the add-ons page so you can change the shortcut's icon to Brutal Doom 64's Icon.
i dont know what to feel about the new update. to me the game is alot more laggy and everything's too bright for my liking. the first release felt alot more spooky wich was nice. and i really do dislike how you removed the weapon viewbob.. but i kinda do like the new pistol sound. even though it is to loud.. also the new pickup sound is strange.. but i do like it how you lowered down the file size for the music and how you added in headshots *kinda*.
Love the mod so far. Just one thing I noticed though. When I grab the artifact in the first secret level (Map29: Outpost Omega), the artifact doesn't appear in my inventory. It did in the first version, but not versions B and C. Is this a glitch?
Yeah, I noticed the exact same thing on both 1B/1C. I thought it was something on my end, tried different solutions (like reinstalling, mess with the settings and such) but to no avail. I guess it is some kind of glitch.
For some reason when I play version 1C I get weird graphical glitches with the map textures. Anyone know why this is? I also really like the changes made to the pistol.
After updated 1C it gives error :
Execution could not continue.
Script error, "bd64gameV1c.pk3:cvarinfo" line 1:
cvar 'bd_bloodamount' already exists
Remove 'bd_bloodamount' and all other conflicting cvars from your ini and restart Zandronum to continue.
How can i fix it? First version was work like a charm. But 1C isn't...
Delete old pk3 files in skins folder
yes thanx. i deleted bd64v1_main.pk3 file and it works. But my save games not working. i must start a new game :(
You can rename new pk3 files with old and continue playing.
Try renaming bd64gameV1c.pk3 to bd64v1_main.pk3. Save files are linked to pk3 you've started playing with. Do this with map files also. Some maps have been changed i think, so loading a save can cause problems but try anyway.
Dont work.
Worked for me. I did this after updating from 1c to 1cfix.
Hello, i have a bug - unlimited pickuping the shotguns.
This is not a bug. AFAIK all weapon pickups works the same. Picking up ammo works as it should.
player weapon bullet trail?
Sarge, the music from level 6 to 7 isn't transitioning well, it keeps playing the music from the results screen and loops throughout level 7.
delete this
thanks you so much ! :D
Controller support broken for this update? Can't seem to use mine now... I got it to work but no controller.
Also, every monster is gray, and the graphics seem much worse than the original release...can you re-upload that original release?
I got it by just playing it through regular gzdoom instead of zand.
I think, ver1.0 was more darker than 1c
Sarge--here's something else I would love to see in BD64:
Dcemulation.org
Noticed a bug since the 1.0 but forgot to mention it - Chaingunners aren't taken into account of ammo for the Unmaker.
How get fuel for chainsaw? Only from backpack?
Seems like only chainsaw and backpack.
(V1cqfix) Updates valid even if it is to restart!
Dont know if its a concern or not but on version 1B the light amp goggles didnt work properly and instead of lighting up the dark rooms it had a bright fluorescent green shade like night vision goggles and the level lights looked very poor with them on, you can see the 2d box of the aplh textures. Just thought I'd throw this out there just in case, I can upload a screenshot but where should I upload it?
With V.1c every time I try to go into full screen it completely blacks out my screen and I have to restart my system. Is this a common issue?
Edit: I just needed to adjust the resolution before switching to full screen mode. Problem solved.
Why do you not made a Winchester 1887 like in original game, and do you plan it in next updates?
Anyone knows why the Brutal improvements aren't working?
I just downloaded the zip file, extract it, put the DOOM2.wad from steam in the folder where I've extracted the bd64 and I run the bd64.exe, but once inside the game there's no Brutal improvements at all, the game is still vanilla
the downloaded file is bd64_v1cqfix and there's no bd64 zandronum.exe, just bd64.exe and isn't working
Hello guys
Anybody else noticed the bugged night vision lighting? =S
Getting a bug where MAP07 music doesn't load no matter what I do. MUSIC "MAPDW7" NOT FOUND.
Music file IS present in ZD64MUSIC.pk3
Also the MAPS.pk3 is corrupted and can't be opened, which may possibly have something to do with some of the above issues
OKAY so i've done some digging
EVERYONE WITH THE MAP07 MUSIC PROBLEM
- GO INTO ZD64MUS.PK3
- GO INTO "MUSIC"
- RENAME MAPDW07.ogg to MAPDW7.ogg
- Map should load the proper music now. This definitely is a script bug as the other maps were looking for ex. MAPDW06.ogg but Map07 looked for MAPDW7.ogg instead.
- IF YOU HAVE A SAVE WITHIN MAP07 and the stats screen music is playing just OPEN THE CONSOLE AND TYPE:
changemus MAPDW7
And press enter
The proper track should be loaded :3
(Don't do that until after you've changed the track name in the pk3 file though)
YOU'RE WELCOME
ACTUALLY it's "MAPWD7"
Please excuse my typo. I can't edit this post lol
Haha! Thanks! I just ran into this issue!
any updates coming soon?
After 24 level I jump at 28 level. It's normal? Other seems like secret levels? Only 25 level? Hm, sad. Perhaps I forget Doom 64.
Levels 25-27 were fun levels, only accessible via cheats.
maybe you can find them in level 24? @blackmore1014
