The Battlefield franchise enters a new era equipped with more firepower, modernized weaponry and vehicles, and a deeper infantry experience from the jungles to the beaches of Vietnam. From villages on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue wage modern warfare as the United States or North Vietnamese Army (NVA). Select from a variety of characters within the different soldier classes as you command powerful new vehicles including attack and transport helicopters, the M551 Sheridan tank, and the F-4 Phantom fighter jet on the U.S. side and the Russian-made T-54 tank, the MIG-21, and Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter on the NVA side.
Go to war in new dramatic battle scenarios including leading a squadron of helicopters in an all-out attack on an enemy compound, executing an ambush of enemy soldiers from dense foliage, captaining a PT boat through a dangerous jungle river passage, and more. Grab your M-16, ready the Napalm, and prepare to enter some of the fiercest battles of the Vietnam War.
The twentieth anniversary of Battlefield Vietnam's release is here, and so is One Point Three, the mod I set out to create as a celebration of reaching this point.
Much like my other BfVietnam mod, "Operation Remembrance", which is much larger and definitely worth a look if you like Battlefield Vietnam, One Point Three isn't going to be a "one release" mod. I'm already aware of some small bugs and unpolished features in the mod that I simply wasn't able to complete in time for the scheduled release date. My plan is to wait a few months for player feedback to come in and then create a patch to incorporate any worthwhile player suggestions, eliminate remaining bugs, and polish the last few details. Expect that around June, July, or possibly August of this year.
An F-4 Phantom on Operation Flaming Dart, showing off the F-4's new weapon load-out. The pilot gets guided air-to-air missiles and randomly selected bombs, which are either of the high explosive or napalm type, while the new copilot position gets guided air-to-ground missiles and launchable flares to decoy enemy heat-seeking missiles.
However, for the most part, this mod is complete. I have no plans to make any significant updates that add a large amount of content, so I won't be taking requests to "Add Weapon X" or "Include Vehicle Y" in future updates. The whole point of this mod is simply to make the game as good as possible without adding any new content that the original developers didn't make themselves, and only use existing resources in different ways. But having said that, I'm completely open to suggestions for minor fixes or tweaks to make the mod better-balanced or improve gameplay.
One particular warning I'll give is that at the moment, One Point Three is likely not ready for online play. The debugger indicated there were some errors that would probably prevent that, but I didn't have time to fix those issues. That will come in the next update, and the mod will then be ready to be played on servers.
A T-34/85 on Ia Drang Valley. The T-34/85 replaces the PT-76 on certain maps early in the war, and at the very end of the war as well.
Now that One Point Three is finished, I'm planning on taking a break from modding to write, and then I'll primarily be focusing on Operation Remembrance from here on out, apart from the planned One Point Three patch in a few months. That's all for now, everyone. Thanks for dropping by to take a look at my work, and I hope you enjoy One Point Three.

THIS GAME GOES OF THE HOOK
Do u guys smell that! The smell of dead charlie in the mornin.
You should watch the Military Channel (287). You would know that the reason World War II had more open enviroments was because the War was fought against the Nazi Regime, which controlled (more like Invaded) more than half of Europe. and that ranged from the southern Swedish areas (closer to northern Germany) to the south of Italy, and farther. Which ranges thousands of square miles around Europe. Now, Vietnam was a Guerrila War (or a "Police Action" as we call them, we were basically there to stop North vietnam's communist Army from invading South Vietnam), which was obviously fought in Vietnam, which is known for its lush jungles and Rainforests. Of course, we dropped like flies over there, and because of political actions (and the Goddamn Anti-War protestors) we pulles our soldiers out of Vietnam, and left the South Vietnamese Army to fend for themselves, and thus South Vietnam fell to the northern communist Army.
VC i under stand it is your country but first of all veitnam is a **** place for a sniper trees constantly in your way 2: bunkers are supposed to be strong and anyway it would be absalutly crap if you could blow up houses and finally read some history books you may live there but you know jack all about the war
oh my god people plz read your history god damnit its not a ******* updated version of battlefield1942. mr widdim and vertigo89 are right. this game should be allot more historicly accurate there are very few levels that are close to the real thing. but it is an awesome game
Who ever you people are, you know very little, Vietnam was not a huge battlefield like WWII, it was small jungles with tunnels. The reason heli's are simple is so any one can use them, and you can do complicated manuvers if you want. This game pulls off everything it should. Peace
Tei, you have no idea what you are talking about. BFV has a very different engine from BF. If they were the same engine, or even a slightly updated engine, you would be able to play all of the BF content on BFV without any, or very little, converting/porting.
