The Battlefield franchise enters a new era equipped with more firepower, modernized weaponry and vehicles, and a deeper infantry experience from the jungles to the beaches of Vietnam. From villages on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue wage modern warfare as the United States or North Vietnamese Army (NVA). Select from a variety of characters within the different soldier classes as you command powerful new vehicles including attack and transport helicopters, the M551 Sheridan tank, and the F-4 Phantom fighter jet on the U.S. side and the Russian-made T-54 tank, the MIG-21, and Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter on the NVA side.

Go to war in new dramatic battle scenarios including leading a squadron of helicopters in an all-out attack on an enemy compound, executing an ambush of enemy soldiers from dense foliage, captaining a PT boat through a dangerous jungle river passage, and more. Grab your M-16, ready the Napalm, and prepare to enter some of the fiercest battles of the Vietnam War.

One Point Three

The twentieth anniversary of Battlefield Vietnam's release is here, and so is One Point Three, the mod I set out to create as a celebration of reaching this point.

Much like my other BfVietnam mod, "Operation Remembrance", which is much larger and definitely worth a look if you like Battlefield Vietnam, One Point Three isn't going to be a "one release" mod. I'm already aware of some small bugs and unpolished features in the mod that I simply wasn't able to complete in time for the scheduled release date. My plan is to wait a few months for player feedback to come in and then create a patch to incorporate any worthwhile player suggestions, eliminate remaining bugs, and polish the last few details. Expect that around June, July, or possibly August of this year.

ScreenShot0

An F-4 Phantom on Operation Flaming Dart, showing off the F-4's new weapon load-out. The pilot gets guided air-to-air missiles and randomly selected bombs, which are either of the high explosive or napalm type, while the new copilot position gets guided air-to-ground missiles and launchable flares to decoy enemy heat-seeking missiles.

However, for the most part, this mod is complete. I have no plans to make any significant updates that add a large amount of content, so I won't be taking requests to "Add Weapon X" or "Include Vehicle Y" in future updates. The whole point of this mod is simply to make the game as good as possible without adding any new content that the original developers didn't make themselves, and only use existing resources in different ways. But having said that, I'm completely open to suggestions for minor fixes or tweaks to make the mod better-balanced or improve gameplay.

One particular warning I'll give is that at the moment, One Point Three is likely not ready for online play. The debugger indicated there were some errors that would probably prevent that, but I didn't have time to fix those issues. That will come in the next update, and the mod will then be ready to be played on servers.

ScreenShot1

A T-34/85 on Ia Drang Valley. The T-34/85 replaces the PT-76 on certain maps early in the war, and at the very end of the war as well.

Now that One Point Three is finished, I'm planning on taking a break from modding to write, and then I'll primarily be focusing on Operation Remembrance from here on out, apart from the planned One Point Three patch in a few months. That's all for now, everyone. Thanks for dropping by to take a look at my work, and I hope you enjoy One Point Three.

I wish they had The Battle of Long Tan.

Also what about South Korea, they had more troops in Vietnam than Australia and New Zealand.

I love the game but it left out a lot of the stuff of the Vietnam War.

And also there are games with ANZACs in it, Medal of Honor Rising Son is a World War 2 game and they make an appearance during Guadalcanal (you could tell by their appearance and attitude, plus by the rifles they carried.)

You're right, I don't think a single Vietnam game has included Australians, and I've never played a WWI/II game with ANZACS... you guys have it as tough as us Canadians :D

There shouldn't be chinese in here anyway, you either don't know jack about vietnam or your confused with the aftermath when the USA left and the north took control then the chinese invaded- all after the vietnam war

What? China had more than 170,000 units in Vietnam on the North Vietnamese side in 1968, they withdrew at the end of '68 because the North Vietnamese wouldn't cut their ties with the USSR. There were over 1,000 Chinese soldiers lost.

first off i would like to see the aussie forces and the korean ROK'S also the chinese forces. other than this it's definetly my favourite game. i think that it would be fun if there was a map where the first cav dropped off their grutns from the helos.
p.s huey's rule NVA drool and the ration pack cheese tastes like crap.

But my uncle used to tell me war stories in Vietnam, where he battled the NVA and destroyed small bases. I thought there was 300, 000 Koreans and 320,000 chinese forces fighting there.
