Enemies
The Mercenaries
Commander
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 175 lbs
You'll recognize commanders by their military clothing. Commanders often bark orders and coordinate tactics for their subordinates. Since these "tactics" always have the same goal, namely killing you, you'll want to kill commanders as soon as a fight breaks out. With the commander dead, the mercs under him will fight solo. You will often need to hunt the commander out, as they won't engage in battle until you have whacked all his subordinates.
Grunt Mercenaries
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 180 lbs
The most common type of enemy on the island. Grunt mercs often hang out in the training camps, blockades and outposts scattered throughout Far Cry. The only time these guys pose any real threat is when encountered in large groups or with a commander. Still, if you fail to kill them fast enough, they will call for reinforcements.
Cover Mercenaries
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 250 lbs
You will hate these guys. They're buff, carry big guns and lack reason. Most of the time Cover mercs will charge you. Never mind that you're busy unloading a clip into their chests, they will rush at you until dead. Cover mercs often hold the front line, so expect to gun them down before you enter a camp or other merc hang-outs.
Snipers
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 175 lbs
Not much to say about these guys. They can splatter your brains from a ludicrous distance. Don't expect to survive more than 1 or 2 shots from a Sniper. Deal with them the way they deal with you: sneak toward them and shoot em' right between the eyes with your trusty AW50 Sniper Rifle.
Scout Mercenaries
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 150 lbs
These mercs love to sneak around foliage and flank you. They usually move in pairs or teams. They're more of a nuisance than anything else, since you can take them out rather easily.
Rear Guard Mercenaries
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 190 lbs
These guys throw grenades at you. Not only that, they carry big guns and wear thick armor. You'll want to be very careful when dealing with the Read Guard. If possible, sneak into a postion behind them and nail them where they least expect it.
Indoor Guards
Height: 6"
Weight: 175 lbs
You'll know these guys because they're A.) found indoors and B.) Decked out in snazzy guard uniforms. Indoor mercs will often seek cover behind stairwells, desks and crates. They should be considered more dangerous the mercs crawling outside.
Shield Guards
Height: 6"
Weight: 175 lbs
These guys can take an unholy amount of punishment. They're mean, armed to the teeth and wear super thick riot gear.
Elite Guards
Height: 6"
Weight: 170 lbs
The Elite Guards are just that, elite. They'll rip you apart in a New York minute. You can recognize them by their insistence on wearing gas masks. They also sport thermo-vision goggles, making them extremely dangerous even when you're trying to hide.
Scientists and Workers
Evil Worker
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 160 lbs
These guys fill the island. They usually hang around merc outposts or camps. They're not much of a challenge, so blow them away on sight. However, they can and will alert nearby mercs of your presence, so keep that in mind.
Junior & Senior Scientist
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 175 lbs
These guys run the labs later in the game. They'll try and cap you when you violate their labs, but they lack any decent armour.
Core Engineer
Height: 5'7"
Weight:170 lbs
These guys wear snazzy biohazard suits. Encountered only late in the game, the core engineer acts as more of a nuisance than a real threat.
