AKAP6

A gene on chromosome 14q12 that encodes a member of the structurally diverse A-kinase anchor protein (AKAP) family, which binds to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the enzyme to discrete locations within the cell. AKAP6 is highly expressed in certain regions of the brain and in cardiac and skeletal muscle; it localises to the sarcoplasmic reticulum and nuclear membrane, where it anchors PKA.
