Secretary of State for Transport

The head of the Department for Transport, which is the department of the British government responsible for highway maintenance, motor vehicle registration, the coastguard, and other similar issues. He/she advises the government on transportation issues. The secretary is appointed by the monarch on the advice of the prime minister.
