El uso de acercar o aproximar no señala diferencias de sentido, sino más bien diferencias de estilo. Con todo, aproximar, como más docto, suele preferirse en las significaciones figuradas, como aproximarse a la verdad, a Dios. En cambio parecería un poco pedante decir aproxímame una silla, en vez de acércame. Arrimar equivale a juntar o poner en contacto material o moral, como arrimar una escalera a la pred, arrimarse a un buen protector para conseguir beneficios.
