center bit

center bit showing cutting end
A tool for boring holes in wood, held by a brace; the cutting end consists of a sharp point (or threaded center spur) for fixing the center of the hole, a projecting scoring edge for marking the circumference of the hole, and a sharp lip for cutting away the wood inside the circumference.
