KARACHI -- Pakistan Cables Limited has successfully completed the installation of Pakistan's first ever
Aluminum Conductor Composite Core ACCCA(r) in the National Transmission and Despatch Company's (NTDC) system.
The ratings derive strength from the Prem group's long track record in the
aluminum conductor industry, its conservative capital structure and moderate order book, CRISIL said.
According to the company, its cable makes use of a glass and carbon composite core to reinforce an
aluminum conductor, unlike conventional power line cable in which the
aluminum conductor is reinforced with steel.
The group's revenues grew by 123 per cent to Rs.4.96 billion in 2009-10 (refers to financial year, July 1 to June 30) from Rs.2.22 billion in 2008-09 because of commissioning of the group's
aluminum conductor plant (capacity of 9000 tonnes per annum [tpa]) in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and increase in revenues from its trading operations.
Six tenders for the supply of (a) plain
aluminum conductor with alloy of 240 mm2 cross section, (b) insulated & reinforced aluminum cables of 3 x 120 + 70 mm2 cross section, (c) three S + S, 12 kV switchboards for use inside buildings, (d) insulated
aluminum conductors of 70 mm2 cross section, (e) compact oil type power transformers of 1,500 KVA, 10.f kV capacity, also (f) plain
aluminum conductors with steel core of 150/ 25 mm2 section.
