Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS; Salovey et al., 1995, version adapted to the Spani sh language by Fernandez-Berrocal, Extremera, & Ramos, 2004).
This is due in large part to the simplicity and low cost of administrating the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS; Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey and Palfai, 1995) measurement instrument, which these authors have simplified and adapted to the Spanish context.
Results indicated that on the EI measure used in this study, the Trait Meta-mood Scale (TMMS) subscales, Attention was not related to perceived stress or symptom reporting.
Since its introduction in 1995, the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS; Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, & Palfai, 1995) is one of the most widely used self-report measures based on Salovey and Mayer's (1990) model, which assesses stable individual differences on perceived emotional intelligence (PEI) or the perception of one's emotional competencies.
Valid and reliable measures of EI appeared over the period of 20 years since the advent of Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale (LEAS) by Lane, Quinlan, Schwartz, Walker, and Zeitlin (1990), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) by Bagby, Parker, and Taylor (1994), Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS) by Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, and Palfai (1995), Emotional Accuracy Research Scale (EARS) by Mayer and Geher (1996), Bar-On (1997a) Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i), Schutte Self Report Index (SSRI) by Schutte et al.
Within this group, one of the most widely used instruments has been the Trait Meta-Mood Scale, or TMMS (Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, & Palfai, 1995).
